Re: Official POST-LOCKOUT Player Movement Thread (Trades, FAs, etc)
I get it also...but he took the money, but now wants to "go to a place he choses".
It's against all the basic principles....he took the cash, he knew the deal, so if a team like the T-Wolves want him to mentor Ricky Rubio or Mark Jax would like some experience in the GS back court, then that's the job he signed up for. He signed an NBA contract that says he can be traded and amnestied.
But now he's saying "i wanted the money AND i want to chose to go to Miami or LA and chase a ring".
But its not just him, its most of the selfishness that these players have been going on about
They want the money and the full say in where they go at the same time.
I know you'd say off the bat thats not so bad but it is when you don't fulfil your own obligations... They know there is a possibility of a trade when they sign the dotted line.
This is one reason they fought in the lockout so hard, but i've said my piece on this circus earlier.... its basically an out of control league when everybody is just allowed to do anything regardless of contracts or whatever
I just dont like where its going, and Billups should be like Sheed and just retire
Right now, Billups is no more special than anyone else. In a few years he'll be gone anyway and they wont be remembering him anymoreComment

Meh. Now that LA has completely destroyed team chemistry, you may as well ship both those guys out.
I wasn't overjoyed initially, and I don't know if LA is really that much better without a PF.
I do feel for Odom and Pau. Both of these guys embraced the city and the team like true professionals.
Odom and Pau should not be going to the situations they're going to IMO. They're not gonna really move the needle much in either of those systems.Comment

I know I'm in the minority, but I don't really care what Billups said.
People comparing him to TO. Totally off base IMO. Billups wants to win, he wants to stay with NY. He has been jerked around his entire career.
Now with ALL that said, if he was so adament about playing with a winner etc. etc., why doesn't he just restructure his contract with NY so they can pay him a lot less, since he doesn't deserve all that money.
Overall, I don't disagree with his feelings. It's a stupid rule the way Amnesty is set up. The whole waiver system is just stupid. If they don't want LA or Miami picking off, then don't implement the amnesty in the first place. It's simply not productive to have a veteran like Billups go to Sacramento. It's just stupid on all sides.Comment

He can't restructure his deal though
Jerked around ?
Once he finally decided to play as a PG and not whatever he wanted, he won a ring, has made plenty of money and inked his name on contracts that he know included being traded
While I understand the human aspect, its his line of business... even greater players than him have been traded...Comment

Re: Official POST-LOCKOUT Player Movement Thread (Trades, FAs, etc)
It's actually the opposite. Majority here feel the NJ package is vastly superior, especially with Odom seemingly off the board. I still don't know. A healthy Bynum is vastly superior to Brook Lopez in my opinion, Bynum is twice the rebounder and will be a force. The catch is the health, that's the risk. I dont think it's even remotely close barring health.
I think the Nets package is very good. Ultimately it's up to Otis Smith.Comment

I didn't know you couldn't restructure.
Ex, your a diehard so you should there is no restructuring of contracts in the NBA. Using the amnesty provision on him was the only way the could sign Tyson to his deal. There are other contending teams with cap space (Chicago and Oklahoma City) that can conceivably sign him. Denver could also use his serves if they move Andre Miller. Why does automatic need to go to either Miami or the Lakers to win championship???

What I don't agree with from Chauncey is trying to bring up the family aspect and having to move and all this other noise. If you're so concerned about being with your family and not having to uproot them and all this other stuff, then why are you going to Miami if given the chance? Go back to Denver? Half they're team is trapped overseas, I'm pretty sure they'd welcome him back. Dude's just being a massive dickhead and I actually like Chauncey.Comment
