It's a waste of money if you're trying to win a championship. You can't sink that much money into a guy who is backing up your superstar player. After seeing what DeAndre Jordan, Tyson Chandler, and Sam Dalembert are getting/going to get paid, defensive C's are in-demand. Once Omer is eligible for the big money, he'll get paid. The Magic will demand Omer over Taj, no doubt.

But I'm getting off-topic, so I'll stop. The Lakers will eventually end up with Dwight, that's my opinion.

Yeah I don't think the Magic want anything to do with Booz' contract.

C'mon dude. Taj Gibson at this point is much better defensively than Omer Asik. Plus, why ask for Asik over Gibson when you can Get Noah AND Gibson and start both of them? Asik's game isn't ready yet, he's still developing.

I don't really see a feasible way for the Lakers to get Dwight without completely destroying their roster. Orlando will not trade him without pawning off Turkoglu, and as of now the only way LA can take those contracts is to include both Pau & Bynum, and all you're really left with is Kobe, Dwight and a massive pile of crap. If the Lakers best offer is Bynum and garbage picks for Dwight straight up then Orlando will send him & Turk to NJ.

As near as I can tell if the Lakers want Dwight the price starts at Pau & Bynum at least, and I don't think that would be worth it. LA really has zero leverage here.

Kobe and Dwight is more than enough to be very, very successful.

              I am in this church.

Im not sure how to fix the gaping pf hole though. Im curious if theres any way the Lakers can grab NeNe either through SandT or something.

Here's an idea - Lakers send those TPEs the 3 1st Round Picks to Denver for Wilson Chandler and NeNe SandT

              Pau/Bynum for Dwight+? (End game)

PS: I guess I was wrong about Pau. But I still believe if this whole CP3 thing didn't happen the way it did, and Odom essentially lost any and all value he had left (even to the Lakers apparently), Kupchak could have gotten Dwight without Pau. There was only a small window to CP3, but it seemed absurd. Pretty tough to have to chalk up Lamar Odom to a bag of money.

For those of you who want to think long term, if the Lakers could snatch Howard, that would mean that New Jersey doesn't get him. And what that means for Deron Williams next summer (or perhaps earlier) is anybody's guess. But without a second star at his side with the Nets, the Dallas-area native might be lured back to the Metroplex.
Clearly, the Mavericks have enough strong assets now that they are players for Williams either via trade or in free agency next summer.
i mentioned this and a few guys said being from Dallas had no impact on Williams decision making....

I laugh at them because Williams himself hinted this last summer and that is when Cuban started courting him....

I don't think it's out of the possibility at all that Williams would sign with dallas just to return home and play.....Dallas is a nice team and with a great owner why wouldn't Williams entertain the possibility of playing at home and winning a Championship in Dallas?

I'm not sure about that Matrix

Who else on that team can punish anyone for doubling Howard?

Kobe can't take over games anymore....IMO the Lakers were dangerous if they added Dwight and Paul

But with Dwight and just Kobe were the heck else does LA scare anyone...and they are still weak at starting PG and SF right with no bench at all.

Kobe + Dwight is enough to beat Dallas, Memphis and OKC IMO....heck if they were in the East they probably wouldn't be enough to beat New York, Boston and Miami either

This isn't the same Kobe from 5 years ago look at what Jason Kidd did to him in the playoffs he basically took away his drives and that tells me Kobe doesn't have the ability to just blow by people anymore

There was not a single game in that series in which i said man Kobe is about to take over

Sticking chests out? That's all you've been doing the past few months. At first it was comical, but now I'm gonna be sadly happy when Dallas falls flat on their face and doesn't sniff a repeat.

Talking so big because you one a title. I get it, you're overcompensating for rabid Laker fans over the years acting a fool, but just wanted to point out you're no better than them. Sad.

It's gonna be satisfying to see your team bounced out like they had been all too many times in the very first round of the playoffs.

PS ZB9, you're good peoples, but your homeboy has been talking out of his behind a bit too much since you guys won. Hope you guys enjoyed your fluke season.

Maybe, maybe not. I'm sure they can just do what they did in the Shaq years. A bunch of shooters. Only this time, when the team breaks up bc of Kobe retiring, they'll have Howard to build around instead of Kobe.

Even if they get Howard, that won't take away anything from their weakness, which is defense against quicker guards and there are plenty of them in the league now.
Fisher needs to go or at least he shouldn't be a starter anymore. On offense he's zero and on defense he gets raped. I just don't understand that nobody mentions Fisher. And then there's Kobe and I really don't think he'll be able to handle the quicker guards like he used to (even last season he struggled).

CP3 was traded to the Lakers for the first time. David Stern rejected it.
                                They then repackaged the deal
CP3 was traded to the Lakers a second time, David Stern quietly rejected it again.
