Maybe LA is going after another somewhat decent point guard? Thats all they need from the start.

Wrong, especially when Kobe is 33 yrs. old and they'd only be able to surround with scrubs. It would be wonderful to see Lakers ruin the team for just Dwight Howard. People seem to forget that the Lakers were irrelevant throughout the mid-1970's and entire 1990's. I wouldn't be suprised if they become a non-playoff team when Kobe retires. That's also dependant upon anyone gift wrapping them a star.

Re: Official POST-LOCKOUT Player Movement Thread (Trades, FAs, etc)

This is exactly what I posted yesterday. The Lakers never wanted CP3. Ever. They want D12. A ball-controlling PG won't work with Kobe. They should've just tried to structure a deal for D12 from the beginning but they got caught up with the "Big 3" nonsense and got greedy.

And that stuff about Lamar Odom being an asset still sticks.

Dude was a straight salary dump. Nothing more, nothing less.

Yes...he can have success as a Maverick. But call it what it is. And that first Hornets deal just blew his mind apart so the Lakers were trying to send him anywhere in the league at that point. It's been confirmed already.

At this point in the D12 sweepstakes...I still see the Nets as leaders.

Not because of any assets they have or Lopez>Bynum or vice versa, etc.

But because the Nets front office>>>>>>>>>>>>>the Lakers front office.

The wildcard is Mark Cuban. Dude is being very crafty right now.

The Lakers sending Odom to the Mavs is one of the stupidest trades I've seen in years...for many reasons. It's like Mitch is in full panic mode right now.

Lakers pull out of deal for Paul, sources say

The Los Angeles Lakers have pulled out of the three-team deal with New Orleans and Houston that would have landed Chris Paul in L.A., according to a source close to the talks.

Nah, now they need a starting point guard, quality small forward and back-up PF. Unless Gasol and Bynum dominate, and play big minutes, they're going to be in big trouble during all the back-to-back and back-to-back-to-back games. People thought Gasol was gassed last spring, well imagine how bad it'll be for him without a solid back-up.

by decent pg I meant a starting pg who is not a superstar. Don't they have money from Vujacic and Odon's contract to use?

My guess right now is they will use Steve Blake until they get a quality PG.

The same front office that gave Travis Outlaw the contract he has.

So the Magic are not interested in Brook Lopez, not surprising.

Would be scary. Imagine if they had rondo running the point, fast guy who could play in dantonis system and dish all the scorers...

From what I read we'd have to give up probably Balkman, Walker, and Toney Douglas to make it work.
