I always thought Kupchak wasn't dumb at all in making that move, selling Odom for nothing in return basically... He's trying to pull something big... I feel it! This rumors have been killing me, even when I'm working I'm still trying to figure out what's gonna happen

Edit: And LOL for this - > One of "changes" Dwight Howard wants is signing of Chauncey. If DH12 stays, sources say he'll urge Billups to spurn Heat and "anchor" Magic

Has Paul actually listed any teams he would sign with? He won't sign with the Clippers, he won't sign with Boston, he won't sign with Golden State, the Lakers & Heat have no cap room, the Knicks shot their wad on Chandler, Orlando makes sense but they have nothing of value to trade and no cap room either. Dallas has the cap space but they seem to have a better shot at Deron or Dwight. Who else is left?

So Chauncey Billups is the difference between staying and leaving?

Outlaw this and sign Nene(who we don't have to give up ANYTHING for)and then start adding more pieces(like another SF). I refuse to have this drag out like the MeloDrama did last year.

I agree that's an absurd notion from Dwight. Chauncey or bust!

Actually it does have to do with going where they want. Let's not pretend these guys are putting the team ahead of their own wants cause that's not what's going on. With these guys making up they're minds that they're going one place and that's a wrap they are shooting all this value talk right in the foot. The Boston deal probably would have been the best deal they could have got cause they would have gotten Rondo out of the deal and if you're going to lose Chris Paul, the only way to really come close to being even in that would be getting Deron Williams, Derrick Rose or Rajon Rondo. They would've been getting that and he's locked up until at least 2015 so there's plenty of time to get pieces in there with him. Since Paul is hell bent on only going to ONE place though the Hornets CAN'T get the best deal out there.

So let's stop pretending these guys are doing this huge favor for the team. At least the ones that don't actually give a list of teams they'll sign for but just one location that has they're buddies on it.

That's why I Lol'd when I saw this article. Just stupid. Why would Chauncey make a difference? He's old, he's not making big shots/plays like 3/4 years ago.

Expect to read more about Mitch Kupchak in a few mins as he's being interviewed by some journalists

Ohhhhh please Nets fans Houston hadn't had a starting Center for like 3 years now and that doesn't seem to be getting better any time soon. Not to mention we've got a bunch of pieces that don't fit in the bigger puzzle.

Admirable, but at the same time, if you don't go ahead and resign(extension), you're crippling the franchise of signing talent to come play with you, and you're screwing over the teams that are trying to land you right now.

Make a decision, stand by it. I do like that he's being sort of loyal to the Magic by giving them an opportunity though, unless it's a "save face" tactic, showing the public "Hey, I tried".

Sigh...it's not the fact that they can say "We got Chauncey Billups!" It's the principle of listening to your superstar, who you're trying to keep. No, they don't HAVE to sign, but if they listen instead of dismissing it, it makes a guy more likely to stay. Even if Billups doesn't sign, superstar player want to be involved in upgrading the team.

Settle for teams with cap room or take far less $ to pick his spot. Or stay in NO for biggest payday. This must be about principle not bball
That's what i was saying....sure most people might disagree and just say hey give CP3 what he wants or he'll walk for free

ok then walk for free CP3

If the league is doing this i guess i'll be in the minority but i understand why they would finally say enough is enough with guys dictating where they play while under contract with another team.

I do think it's a bit of the "save face" tactic - he doesn't want the LeBron treatment in Orlando. But I do think it's a final chance of sorts, where he's saying, "Let's see how much they wanna keep me."

                            This^.

If I'm Otis Smith...I tell him here's Billups...now sign the damn extension. And go tell the media you'll be a Magic player for the next 5 years.

But Dwight's just being himself...a primadonna diva.

This is sickening. The lockout was a complete waste of time.

I agree with this aswell....he should have kept his mouth shut or just said hey i prefer to be picked up by a contender at this stage of my career

but nope he decides to threaten the league if someone picks him up that he doesn't like he will retire instead

so go ahead and Retire Chauncey since your not getting your way.
