We know. But LA really needed athleticism and youth. No one knew brown before he came to LA cause he was a bench warmer for cleveland. We're hoping the same outcome for Green Geez. Fans grew to like Brown because of his dunking ability which made his name known.IMO brown isn't smart either in terms of basketball. I'm excited because He replaces Brown in terms of athleticism maybe not total skills. Its not official yet anyway.

but I know how much this forum hates Laker fans.

It's only a training camp invite. If he stays, he obviously got better overseas. If he gets cut, then what's new? It's low risk move.

But yeah I'd agree, it is indicative of the lack of depth/talent on the Lakers right now.

As a Laker fan, Shannon Browns BBIQ wasn't all that either. Not saying I'm thrilled about Green, but when looking at it comparatively, doesn't really phase me.

At least Shannon was relatively productive when he was on the floor.

Yeah he was definitely a spark on the court. I'd think being in the Suns offense should give him a chance to improve his game even further. It won't hurt that he could learn from Steve Nash either.

Greene will not make the final roster. And if he does, well then LA has bigger problems than I thought.

McRoberts?? Mehhhhhhhhh. I'm only a big pleased, who knows maybe he can light a fire under the two heartless big guys that are in the starting lineup already.

Shannon wasn't bad, but he's nothing to worry about "replacing" in the grand scheme of things. He would always be a minor role player, he improved, but nothing to worry about. Guy had some nice throw downs and athleticism though, will miss those.

I feel your pain, but no need to be so pessimistic believe me. Have faith in the Lakers FO, I believe it will prevail. Have to patch up the holes that Brown and Odom left, in the end (Backup wing, backup PF). There's no replacing Lamar basketball wise, but it's no secret LO off the bench was a luxury that only a select few (if any) teams could afford.

Honestly, Mitch said it best. Anyone not named Kobe is on the block. The roster they put together was designed around the Odom/Bynum/Gasol length and Kobe. Have to re-tool the roster for a new era, so expect some change (or alot, actually).

Even if Mitch can't pull off the Dwight move now, he needs to fill out those slots in the roster.

Hoping Luke Walton does indeed end up retiring, so we can amnesty Blake, and try to sign Agent Zero for a low risk contract. No need for 3 PG's, but if Walton isn't retiring, I can see them dropping Blake instead in order to maintain Salary Cap restrictions. Mitch says he will do what he has to to put together the best team possible. He's one of the few GM's willing to do that.

                        I'm trying Drew :[

I don't think losing Shannon matters at all. I'm still sick that LO left, and not only that but to Dallas.

I would have just let them play with their squad from last year. I don't even want them to trade anyone else unless it nets something huge, like what you said with Scola and Howard. But I feel like that's probably a bit unrealistic

WTF?? I can't imagine this guy losing 25 pounds

Josh Smith was prepared to be traded from the Hawks when the 2011 Playoffs ended, as the up and downs of his tenure with the Hawks began to wear on him.

“When you’ve been in one place for a while, it crosses you mind: Maybe I want to get lost. Punch the GPS a few times.

“I’ve been here a long time. I’ve never lashed out at the organization. All I ask for sometimes is, when I raise my hand, maybe somebody can help me up, so I’m not always the person who’s trying to [defend me from criticism]. It would be nice if somebody else said, ‘This guy’s a pretty good player.’”

During the offseason, Smith changed his workout routine and his diet while losing 25 pounds. He now weights 225, which is his lightest since coming to the NBA straight out of high school.

After only a few days of drills, coach Larry Drew said, “He’s getting off his feet a lot quicker, getting to the rim and exploding, even more than he has in the past.

“I’m seeing and hearing a passion I haven’t seen before.”

“I’ve been in the league a while," said Smith. "My main concern now is winning. I want to win, no matter what the cost is. I want to be one of the elite teams in this league. My window isn’t closing, but it’s slowly going down. Before I get out of here, I want to accomplish some things.”

I could see Green making the 15. Probably not dressing but he may make the final roster.

The Lakers were planning on signing McRoberts before the Odom trade and I think he's going to be great off the bench. He played well at times for Indiana.
