Re: Official POST-LOCKOUT Player Movement Thread (Trades, FAs, etc)
Tough break for the Cavs. Any word exactly when and how he suffered it?
Can't wait for the Arenas to LA experiment. Arenas, World Peace gunfight in on the team plane soon?Comment

Low risk, high reward. If it doesn't work out, so be it.
Honestly won't take much to have a PG who's better than anyone on the roster currently.
But I guess if you're cool with running Fish out there with Blake every night, that's your opinion. One of the very limited ways for the Lakeshow to try and get a PG who can make -anything- happen without having to trade away a piece.Follow me on Twitter@DrewGarrisonSBNComment

You're happy with the Lakers' PG situation?

Low risk, minimum reward.
Where transitioning out of the triangle, sure we need scoring but we need more of traditional PG for Brown's offense. I just don't see that in Arenas.
Guy is coming off a bad year, no camps, hasn't played this yr, and limited time to work him in. I'm not cool with adding another guy out there just jacking up shots.
We need someone who can create for the team and get the ball down low to Bynum & Gasol on a consistent basis. Gasol, who looks lost an isn't getting enough post up opportunities as it is. Bynum who has dominated in the first half of a few games only to not get those same amount of touches or more in the second half/4 QUARTER is just mind-boggling.
I fail to see why the team refuses to dump the ball down to these guys, an let them go to work, especially with the size advantage we have over most teams night in an night out.
So, if your asking if I want another guy out there taking shots away from these guys then no way.
Maybe that trade for Session, or get rid of Gasol if the opportunity presents it self for a forward and a PG not a chucking SG playing Point.
But hey, if it works out I will be happy.Horseshoes & HollyWoodComment

Gasols post touches are down because he doesn't get position down low. Has alot to do with the offense and trying to clear out the post for Bynum who's taking the lions share of possessions down low.
Things is we do need someone who can shoot and isn't afraid to as well. Teams double, triple, the paint because the Lakers have no perimeter shooter aside from Kobe.
Fisher, Artest, Barnes, Murphy, Blake? None of them can keep the defense honest. Granted Blake is just getting back, he's been hesitant to shoot open looks consistently and that can't happen.
Better off experimenting Arenas before committing the little scraps we have outside of Pau and Bynum as tradeable assets.
To boot, Sessions is an awful three point shooter. Not interested in jumping on that yet. Have enough trouble with teams crowding in the paint as is, he won't have any lanes to drive.

Re: Official POST-LOCKOUT Player Movement Thread (Trades, FAs, etc)
What good is him shooting if he is missing just as bad as the rest of the bunch?
Sure doesn't hurt to try, still doesn't solve our problem of having someone create for the team.
I guess his D is an upgrade over old man Fish, which isn't saying much.
Hopefully he proves me wrong.Horseshoes & HollyWoodComment

Y! Sources: With Lakers officials watching, Gilbert Arenas goes through workout in SoCal gym on Sunday. http://t.co/pITg6o9c
Kinda like come on now you two you know you can't resist one another.
Better than burning trade assets like the TPE and Picks, for now.
EDIT: A little more on this
While the Los Angeles Lakers were in Toronto on Sunday finishing off their six-game road trip, Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak was holding a private workout for free agent guard Gilbert Arenas, according to multiple sources.
Arenas, who turned 30 last month, looked "slimmed down" and "explosive," according to a source with knowledge of the workout, but no signing is necessarily imminent as the guard flew back to his home in Orlando, Fla., from Los Angeles on Sunday night.
Arenas recently underwent a similar blood-spinning procedure on both of his knees and hips that Lakers guard Kobe Bryant visited Germany during the offseason to receive. Arenas was treated by Dr. Edward Capla in New York City. Capla used to work under Dr. Peter Wehling, who treated Bryant and New York Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez. After Arenas reported the procedure made his left knee, which had undergone three operations since 2006, feel springy again, he recommended Capla to former teammate and New Jersey Nets guard DeShawn Stevenson, who also received the treatment.
(Probably doesn't take much to look explosive to the Lakers currently)Last edited by Drewski; 02-13-2012, 12:13 PM.Follow me on Twitter@DrewGarrisonSBNComment

Re: Official POST-LOCKOUT Player Movement Thread (Trades, FAs, etc)
The Celtics are a team that need their depth because they're older and in this lockout condensed season. But one part of it will be missing for the 10-14 days as Brandon Bass because of an inflammation in his right knee.
Via ESPN Boston:Bass felt some discomfort in the knee during a win over the New York Knicks on Feb. 3. He sat out the following game against the Memphis Grizzlies, but played in three games last week. Rivers said the news came as a bit of a surprise to him, as he was informed by team trainer Eddie Lacerte on Sunday morning that Bass almost certainly will be out through the All-Star break, which begins Feb. 23. "We knew his knee was bothering him, but then he got the treatment, and he missed that one game," Rivers said. "There was nothing said after the Toronto game. Then Eddie called me this morning and told me he was out, and out for a while. That was a surprise."The Celtics are already kind of scratching and clawing their way along so losing their top reserve player for two weeks isn't something to just dismiss. Boston needs their depth as much as anyone and have already been hit hard by injuries and other things.
Behind him the Celtics have Chris Wilcox, but he's been starting because of an injury to Jermaine O'Neal. Rookie JaJuan Johnson saw big minutes Sunday against the Bulls and produced relatively well.
Bass, who was acquired for Glen Davis right before the season, is averaging 11.6 points and 6.1 rebounds per game, both career-highs.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: Official POST-LOCKOUT Player Movement Thread (Trades, FAs, etc)
Steve Nash is 38 years old. He's on an expiring contract. And he's playing on a pretty average team.
Common sense might say that Nash would prefer to get out of Phoenix and head to a contender to play out his NBA twilight chasing a ring. Or that the Suns would like to move Nash for a couple of draft picks and young assets to start a rebuild. But so far, neither of those things have happened, nor does it sound like they will.
"I have no idea what the club will eventually do if a bunch of offers are thrown in their face," Nash told SI.com, "but I feel like I'm not nervous about [the trade deadline] and I'm not thinking about -- what's the word? -- I'm not anticipating anything to happen. I feel like I made a commitment and I feel like I owe it to my teammates -- the city, the fans, the club -- to play it out and to play as hard as I can."
Nash has already said he wouldn't request a trade from the Suns. He's loyal, he's committed and he wants to play somewhere he fits. That doesn't mean he might try and look elsewhere next season as a free agent.
But the thing with Nash is, despite being 38, he's having a ridiculous season. He's an All-Star, shooting 56.3 percent from the field and averaging 10.3 assists a game. He's defying age and reason by having maybe his most efficient season yet. And that's without Amar'e Stoudemire or other gifted offensive players. If there was any remaining debate about who made who better, Nash is the constant.
But would the Suns pull the trigger even if Nash is committed? Maybe. And they might actually be getting closer. One executive whose team has had serious interest in Nash in the past told SI.com that the Suns are "as close as they've ever been" to realizing that they need to seriously consider pulling the trigger on a trade if a young star is offered in return. Still, it appears the greater likelihood is that he remains. "Our position has been the same all along, which is I've told him that he has earned the right to stay with our franchise as long as he wants provided that he believes in what we're doing, and provided that he's all in and wants to do that," Babby told SI.com.Nash said he wants to keep playing another couple of years and why wouldn't he? If he's this good at 38, think how good he'll be at 40. Nash is like fine wine -- just better the older it gets.
