Sure you get probably the best pure PG in the league, but you lose the 6th man of the year and a perennial all-star PF who took a LOT of pressure off of Andrew Bynum. I'm still not sold on Bynum's ability to be the #1 guy down low. Also with Kobe's abilities diminishing before our eyes, this LA team is going to be right back at square one in the next 2-3 years.

This seems like a band aid for LA, because I think now that there is no way there are going to be able to get Dwight as well.

I read also that the Hornets and Rockets are working on a deal to bring Gasol to NO as well? Is this true?

If so, they immediately become deeper than the Lakers.
You just answered the question. A 6th man and all-star PF are more valuable than the best (or second-best) PG in the league going on 4 or 5 years now? Nah.

I disagree that Kobe is worse with the ball. He has never been a great off ball guy. Him running through screens? For what? Spot up jumpers? That is not Kobe's game. Great, they now have Chris Paul who can skillfully pass the ball to Kobe in the high post.

So Paul may work his "magic," maybe but I prefer the magic of the Kobe/Pau pick and roll. well thats gone. LA better get Dwight.
If they don't get Howard, you are underestimating how much a real PG like Paul will help Bynum get the ball in prime position for scores. As inconsistent as Odom was, he was the lakers 2nd hardest player for teams to match up with when he was invested..
EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.

as much as i hate the Lakers i think having Paul, Kobe and Bynum or Howard will make them the favorites again.

Unless of course those guys start battling injuries all year...
The Chandler loss hurts but I think they will be fine with Mahinmi. They just need defense. Butler was hurt most of last year. They could still sign Berea and Stevenson back. I like the Rudy Fernandez pickup.

I'm happy about the trade but I still think OKC is a better team. Also the Lakers have 2 weeks to get used to playing with a new PG and a new offensive and defensive system. It won't be easy.

LOL, if we got him for the MLE, I would stop watching the NBA. Also this forum would explode.

Deep - As in the New Orleans Hornets just got screwed really deep.

My point is that same draft the Bulls drafted Aldridge then traded him away for Thomas and I'd like to think Aldridge is almost a core kind of guy. In short hindsight can either make you look stupid or like a genius.

The Lakers have the best backcourt in the NBA, but if Bynum gets hurt, they're screwed.

I can't. I already said that right now we have no frontline outside of those old guys and Derrick C, and I know Mitch still has moves to make (hopefully) but right now we have ONE big man. Like I said earlier I don't trust Bynum as the focal big man, too easy for him to get injured.

Unless he's traded somewhere else before then.

I'd imagine the Magic are going to try and get the most value out of him, instead of making the mistake of watching him walk.
