Re: Official POST-LOCKOUT Player Movement Thread (Trades, FAs, etc)

I'm still completely lost on how Houston thinks they're benefiting at all from this proposed deal.

Trading away your core for an aging big man who's owed 60 million over the next three years?

Pau Gasol is the poster boy for 2nd fiddle at this point in his career. He can still be a championship level 2nd option, but why in the world would Houston want to do this when there would be nothing left to surround him. He is only going to be playing at a high 2nd option level for a few more years. Not enough time to get anything worth while going.

I'm completely speechless at how dumb that would be.

Re: Official POST-LOCKOUT Player Movement Thread (Trades, FAs, etc)

If this move goes through, here are the possible starting lineups for each team:

      LAKERS
      1. Chris Paul
      2. Kobe Bryant
      3. Metta World Peace
      4. Emeka Okafor (?)
      5. Andrew Bynum (?)

Obviously, we don't know what's gonna happen with Bynum. I think the League may insist that Bynum be sent to the Hornets to give them a "star" to rebuild around, and Bynum has said he wants his own team. The beautiful thing is, he didn't say he wanted a BIG market, just a team he can lead. And as Drew Brees and the Saints have shown, if you win here, the fans will show love.

      ROCKETS
      1. Kyle Lowry
      2. Courtney Lee
      3. Terrence Williams/Chase Budinger
      4. Patrick Patterson/Jordan Hill/Marcus Morris/Donatas Motiejunas
      5. Pau Gasol

Rockets clearly are ready to scrap and rebuild around Pau Gasol, and they want him to be their centerpiece. They do have a couple hidden All-Stars on that team, it seems. Question is, who steps their game up?

      HORNETS
      1. Jarrett Jack
      2. Kevin Martin
      3. Trevor Ariza (?)
      4. Carl Landry
      5. Luis Scola

Kevin Martin is a good pickup to build around, but they're clearly about to rebuild as well.

Judging by these, the Lakers would probably come out winners, especially if they get Emeka Okafor. Jermaine O'Neal off the bench wouldn't be bad for depth as well. Maybe this is why Stern is probably insisting the Hornets get either Andrew Bynum or more young players? Maybe the Lakers rookie PG Darius Morris?

Warriors are said to be preparing an offer sheet for DeAndre Jordan. If it's in the area of $50MM or even north of that, do the Clippers match?

They want to pair Pau Gasol with Nene. That's a very good frontcourt.

Meh. I wouldn't. Jordan and Blake are redundant IMO. Blake needs a center who can provide offense because Blake really is nothing more than a run and jump player right now. His post game/jump shot are going to take years to develop.

Jordan is never going to be a center who you can dump the ball into and get points.

Wouldn't be surprised at anything the Clippers do though.

Too much for the Bucks to match for a defensive specialist. Nice having him on the team.

                    Oh my bad, missed that.

I would still question how much that moves the needle in Houston, but idk. I guess twin towers are always good.

Wouldn't be surprised to hear that the Lakers are sending some rookies, probably Ater Majok and Darius Morris (since he's a PG) and Andrew Bynum, while the Hornets send Emeka Okafor and possibly Trevor Ariza? Ariza would seem very unlikely, but who knows at this point.

No one's gonna take on Lamar Odom at this point, and they probably don't want the whole Lamar/Khloe Kardashian reality show in New Orleans.

So give up Gasol... and you end up with Chris Paul, a pretty good PF, and possibly another player... all for Gasol?

                        LOL

Well they have/had Chris Kaman, right?

I think he needs a defensive C around him. Regardless of whether his post game is developing, he's gonna be an offensive threat regardless. Blake is basically a more athletic Dwight Howard with a slightly better post/shooting game, IMO, he's just less dominant than Dwight.

                            Gasol and Bynum im assuming

                            johnhollinger John Hollinger

Seems to me that only way this deal could be revised is to put Bynum in for Odom and send Okafor back to Lakers.

No way we give up Bynum and Pau for Paul. That would be crazy.

This should be the trade everyone rejects. The first one should've gone through.
