actually they do and this summer they will have even more cap space to go after Williams....

they don't need cap space to trade for Howard and they can also take on Hedo's contract right now which would be huge for Orlando

As for Williams without getting to lengthy the Mavs have several contracts coming off the books this year and they can amnesty Haywood or Marion if they so choose....the reason why they refused to re-sign any of their free-agents was to make sure they keep that cap space for the 1st time in the Cuban era

Salary difference is a very good point. One of the best I've actually read.

Can't trade draft picks for 30 days so Marshon and Jordan would be safe.

I've heard one rumor in that it could be a 3 team trade where it would involve Denver, NJ and Orlando:

        Denver gets Brook
        Orlando gets Nene
        NJ gets Duhwight.

Obviously that wouldn't be the final set but it would be something around that but again, it's just a rumor so I don't know how much weight it would carry.

And that Deron/Dallas pitch is still being made here? I thought that got deaded a while ago?

Damn I guess no matter who we have, we'd still be New Jersey which means nobody would want to stay here LOL.

I expected that LA made the CP3 trade because Duhwight was coming next. I never thought LA would only get CP3, figured if it had to be just one it'd be Duhwight.

Not sure what LA's end game is, unless they're already preparing for the post-Kobe era. Their team is extremely 'meh' at the moment. If Bynum ever goes down....damn.

Interesting. I think ORL would be pretty smart taking the Brook package unless they felt confident in Bynum's health. Ehhh just made a very good point about the salary difference between Bynum and Brook and in a financially critical point (supposedly) for teams that's a good issue of debate.

Forgot that picks were safe for 30 days. (I imagine some of them are lucky, lol. Anything goes for those guys.)

Will be an interesting chase. I'm not certain the Lakers are putting all of there business out in the open, anything goes at this point IMO for Mitch trying to capture both.

Okafor if the "new" CP3 deal gets approved. I assume you'd pair him with Bynum at the 5.

Spurs sign PG Ford to veteran’s minimum

The San Antonio Spurs have agreed to terms on a one-year contract with point guard T.J. Ford. The 28-year-old signed on for the veteran’s minimum to serve as the backup to Tony Parker.Ford spent part of the lockout playing for KK Zagreb in Croatia. He averaged 4.1 points and 3.4 assists in 41 games with Indiana last season. The former first-round pick has also played for the Milwaukee Bucks and Toronto Raptors in his eight-year NBA career.

Thats what Im hoping for. This would be best for LA and NOLA. otherwise , meh.

Someone mentioned a few posts back that he wasn't involved though.

Very hard to guess on 3rd parties right now. Houston literally came out of nowhere on Pau Gasol. Haven't heard anything in regards to that though. Boston is stock piling forwards though so watch out, lol.

I can't see any way that a new deal doesn't include Okafor, simply because the salary difference NOH was taking on had to be closed.

Atlanta is the 3rd team that i mentioned dallas could have contacted...

and Josh Smith is the player that I think would be someone Dallas would try to convince Atlanta to deal to Orlando...

I know Atlanta needs a center and Dallas has Haywood or the $12 million TE which could be sent to Atlanta allowing them to acquire Dalembert or Kaman if they so choose

so Atlanta would be the 3rd team I'm guessing that Dallas would contact aswell
