The K-Love thing isn't that big of a deal. Most players sign the 1st extension. It's the third deal that most of the players are leaving on. Paul, James, Anthony and Howard all signed extensions with their originally teams see how that worked out(and in Howard's case going to workout). You looking at the Chair MAN!
Number may not tell the whole story ,but they never lie either.Comment

Re: Official POST-LOCKOUT Player Movement Thread (Trades, FAs, etc)
No it's a big deal because of the amount of money the deal is worth. 60 million is steal. He could have demanded more than that. The previous guy we was talking about is from the same draft class and is wanting 80 to 95 million. That is a huge difference and can be the difference in how they are able to build their teams.Comment

Cool though bro. I know you don't like the Lakers but make valid points.
And I didn't say the were in the running. Lakers could definitely use a scorer like Beasley if Minnesota is trying to dump him.

Who could the Lakers package in order to get Beasley? The Wolves won't take back a package of bums. Maybe some expirings? Not sure what the Lakers have to offer in the same salary range of Super Cool Bease.Twitter - WTF_OS

Lol never ever said they were in the running just that we could use a scoring presence.

I know that. Love would still be leaving money on the table if he took that deal. That was the point of what I was saying. The max Love could get is 5 years 84 million. That's the same amount the report is saying Westbrook wants.Comment

Re: Official POST-LOCKOUT Player Movement Thread (Trades, FAs, etc)
Westbrook doesn't qualify yet for the Rose rule, and if he does this year he couldn't get it anyway if Durant's extension counts as a use of the rule... only two Rose rule players per team, but only one of those players can be drafted by that team. The other has to be traded for.
There's also a new rule where you can have a 'designated player' who can get a 5 year extension, but I don't know how that works. All I know is that you can only have one designated player on a squad.
As for the Wolves/Lakers, I don't think they could be good trade partners at all. Beasley would work well on the Lakers bench, but the needs for the Wolves (a starting C, a starting SG or both) can't be fulfilled by the Lakers. Unless the Wolves want to be hosed.Last edited by Kully; 01-18-2012, 10:48 PM.Comment

As far as Westbrook goes everything I have seen says he would qualify for the rule if he makes an all NBA team. Word is that is why the contract talks are at the stand still they are at now. I don't think Durant's deal has anything to do with Westbrook qualifying or not because he wasn't originally apart of the rule. The NBA made an exception for Durant to retroactively qualify.Comment

Re: Official POST-LOCKOUT Player Movement Thread (Trades, FAs, etc)
Larry Coon
One player they drafted, and one player they acquired through trade.
So Westbrook isn't eligible if Durant's extension counts as a Rose rule extension since they were both drafted by Seattle/OKC.
About the designated player extension, all the info I read about it makes it sound like the Rose rule but without the stipulations (the player doesn't have to be a two time all-star/two time all nba/MVP to get the designated player label). I'm still unsure about that one.
Edit: got my answer it seems -yeah, its two different things. the designated player extension rule is related more to the number of yrs on a contract extension, where as the derrick rose rule is related to the maximum salary for each of those yrs.Last edited by Kully; 01-18-2012, 11:29 PM.Comment
