Re: Official POST-LOCKOUT Player Movement Thread (Trades, FAs, etc)
It doesn't matter how many hypothetical scenarios we think of them doing with the cap space or even if they do the right thing with it in the end. The flexibility to do SOMETHING other than going forward with an overpaid, aging underachieving (for his salary) guy made less sense than getting his numbers off the book.

Re: Official POST-LOCKOUT Player Movement Thread (Trades, FAs, etc)
Just because all the "stars" are on other teams doesn't mean you go signing fringe stars to star contracts.
i.e. Nene, Charlie V, Ben Gordon etc. etc. etc.
If you happen to sign them, aint no complaining from me that you trade them away a year later.
I know DET wishes on their lucky stars everyday that someone would be dumb enough to call them up...
So I think Matrix is oversimplfying things
Sure if you're not in contention, you don't just wanna say "F it". But there is a smart way to go about it. Build around young players and through the draft.
Signing guys in their late 20's or early 30's with big contracts who aren't even legit All-Stars is beyond stupid IMO. If you're trying to rebuild your organization.Comment

They really should after giving away OUR pick to Portland instead of one of the others, and not doing a single other thing at the deadline. ********.
Then talk about picking up old *** KG in the offseason? Huh. Prokorov needs to start some Russian Mafia torture to these numbnuts until they learn.

Trading Nene to Washington earlier Thursday helped give Nuggets financial flexibility to offer Chandler long-term deal he's been seekingComment

So basically our starting 5 will be the same... but with Sessions at the PG position. Still think we shoulda add another SF. World Peace continues to be inconsistent...Hope is lost. Faith is broken. A fire will rise.Comment

Re: Official POST-LOCKOUT Player Movement Thread (Trades, FAs, etc)
Beasley deal fell apart at the last minute, Minny didn't want to take Crawford with the knowledge he wasn't likely going to exercise his player option next year and would be out
In the end we get Hill he can be a legitimate back up big in comparison to the McMurphy duo, a huge upgrade at our worst position ( Sessions + Blake > Sessions + Fisher/Blake splitting), cleared out Luke Walton, and still have the TPE till Dec to leverage something later on that will work out. The dominoes not falling till the end hampered things, but I'm happy with the overall outcome.Follow me on Twitter@DrewGarrisonSBNComment

Re: Official POST-LOCKOUT Player Movement Thread (Trades, FAs, etc)
The bottom line is the current team isn't going anywhere with Nene and he's getting paid way too much to perform at the level he has been. So getting cap space to try to reshape the team in some other way is better than going forward paying him that huge salary for another 4 years or whatever it'd be.

The way some of you were going on about the future and cap space...I thought Denver was near the bottom of the league.
Nothing to do with trolling. That was the reasoning from people here.
As a fan...I want my team to be competitive. If they make the playoffs...I consider that competitive. If they get bounced...oh well.
But to downgrade your team for "cap reasons" when you're in the middle of a playoff push is assanine IMO.
People talking about luxury taxes and complimentary players like Wilson Chandler.
It boggles my mind.
I'm okay with disagreeing with everybody on here. But I don't want management pissing on diehard fans and calling it rain.
I respect what Portland did today. They made no bones about it and cleared house.
These other teams pressed the panic button and F'd their franchises...IMO.Comment

Re: Official POST-LOCKOUT Player Movement Thread (Trades, FAs, etc)
Losing Nene, doesn't automatically make them a lottery team.
Where are you getting this from?
So you would rather have the Nuggets be handcuffed in 3 years when Nene is making an obscene amount of money and playing like a bum, and give them no flexibility to get better?Comment

Re: Official POST-LOCKOUT Player Movement Thread (Trades, FAs, etc)
Denver though, will be fine without Nene. They're better for the immdiete future by parting with Nene.
They still have a lot of talent, and with Nene they were never going anywhere.
They now have a chance to add someone else to the mix...
Nene doesn't deserve that kind of money.Comment
