To be fair the same thing happened last year with coach Brown. There was the same kind of rumours he might get traded. And the season before that, in the playoffs Phil Jackson was going hard at him.

I think Pau is responsible for what happens to him. He just doesn't play hard enough, it gets noticed, the focus gets on him and then it gets worse because he doesn't seem to be mentally tough enough to overcome it.

I don't watch every Laker game but what is this talk of Pau not playing hard enough?

Wasn't Phil the only one who consistently had Pau in the post? You can correct me if I'm wrong here.

But having him float around the perimeter is eventually going to make you lazy as a big because you're pretty much just standing around waiting to receive a pass.

Unless Pau starts to get fed in the post or Nash starts using him in P&Rs, he's probably going to stay in this funk. Everyone knows Pau is an emo dude ever since Kobe punked him about his girlfriend during the playoffs that year.

It's like they're all making excuses. Like Kobe said, Pau is good and smart enough to adjust his game. At the end of the day, you're supposed to do what the coach says, not the other way around.

I really dislike d'Antoni, I think he's the worse thing that happend to the Lakers the last 5 years but you still can't whine everytime things are not going your way and Pau can be deadly with his midrange.

Pau is a highly intelligent player, but you can't completely take a player out of his element...(an element that helped win championships) and expect him to just....adjust...

Kobe can say he's "adjusting" all he wants....fact is, he's getting shots up as usual...which he's more than comfortable doing...

They might as well just trade the guy...

Pau isn't the only guy though. They allowed 40 points in the 4th quarter to the Magic, and Pau was on the bench.

I mean the whole team is a joke right now.

If Pau adjusts, it doesn't mean it's going to work. Sometimes a coach has to adjust to his players' strengths.

Pau is not off the hook at all.

But you have the head coach and the team's best player ripping him in the media. He has been in trade rumors for the past 2 years and he was even traded until it got rescinded. It doesn't take a Dr. Phil intervention to know that he's not going to be the same player with all of this going on.

Why doesn't Kobe get on Dwight in the media for missing so many FTs?

                      Oh yeah, gotta re-sign him.

Again, we've seen this movie play out before.

Kobe didn't say much about Pau though, it wasn't that bad.

But yeah they should quit answering media's question on things that should stay inside the team. It's really sad to watch.

Dwight making 50% of his free throws is nothing new. He's not gona magically become a great clutch free throw shooter. Why did they keep feeding him in the post though? Really wierd to me.

He said enough. The stigma Pau has been trying to fight the past few years off and on is one of being soft. Kobe basically told the whole world Pau needs to stop being a bitch and man up. There really is no other way to take him telling him to put his "big boy" pants on and stop whinning. Add to that he said he was going to kick everybody in the locker room ***.

Sure Kobe is suppose to be the leader and is the guy with 5 rings and all but he could and should be handling this differently. Him calling Pau out like that the way he did just opens the flood gates for everybody else to just jump all over him.

Kobe isn't the only one though. Dwight needs to shut up and play better ball himself and stop missing so many free throws.

                              Yeah I guess you're right.

The first guy to call Pau out though was D'Antoni saying he was playing bad to a different media every day. What kind of coaching is that.

There comes a point when one must make a decision. Are YOU willing to do what it takes to push the right buttons to elevate those around you? If the answer is YES, are you willing to push the right buttons even if it means being perceived as the villain? Here's where the true responsibility of being a leader lies. Sometimes you must prioritize the success of the team ahead of how your own image is perceived. The ability to elevate those around you is more than simply sharing the ball or making teammates feel a certain level of comfort. It's pushing them to find their inner beast, even if they end up resenting you for it at the time.

I'd rather be perceived as a winner than a good teammate. I wish they both went hand in hand all the time but that's just not reality. I have nothing in common with lazy people who blame others for their lack of success. Great things come from hard work and perseverance. No excuses.

This is my way. It might not be right for YOU but all I can do is share my thoughts. It’s on YOU to figure out which leadership style suits you best.

Will check back in with you soon.. Till then

Only in the brain of Bean is putting down teammates equal to elevating them.
Quoting this because this is what Kobe is trying to do to Pau. He is trying to motivate through (constructive) criticism, even though its more criticism, but some people need that to get going. For example I am one who needs tough love/criticism to get me going, too light heart-ed and not enough fire. Jordan Farmar is another who is like this.

As for Pringles, he could be trying the same thing, but I don't feel that from him, I do feel that he is trying to work Pau out of the Lakers and bring in someone else (JSmoove?).
