i bet they get a 5th seed or worse. they were on the decline last year and losing the 6th man of the year who is their 3rd maybe 2nd best player on the roster, isnt gonna help any. also losing phil jackson sure wont help. and thats not even taking the potential problems Kobe might have with the wrist. i honestly dont see them contending for the title this year, but who knows they may surprise us.

OKC, Clippers, Memphis, and Dallas are all going to be better teams out west. Not to mention the Heat, Bulls, and Knicks in the east. In other words, yes, the Lakers are done. And it's glorious.

With the off season the lakers just had, losing out on paul and trading Lamar.

Kobe, Artest and Fisher definately won't improve anymore, Bynum's health is a huge risk and they lost one of their key players, so I don't see how they'll even have a chance in the playoffs.
What does it take for them to realize that 'Fisher can't hit' shouldn't be in the starting line up anymore??

Yes they're done in my opinion. The starting 5 is still good but I think the spirit is gone mostly and it's gona be even worse since Lamar has been traded (wich I don't understand). I was really hoping this year was gona be the come back of the great lakers but I can't see it happening. I predict a terrible season.

The absence of Phil Jackson (and the triangle) will be the biggest factor for the Lakers decline this season imo

+1, I can't understand why people keep mentioning the loss of Lamar when the substitute for the most successful coach in basketball is Mike Brown... This is the reason why the Lakers are done imo.

Going into the season this was my main reason why they wouldn't be back. Trading Lamar for a bag of Skittles and a pack of Starbursts was bad too, but people also are forgetting about Shannon Brown. That's a big ****ing deal for them. If Lamar was their 6th man, then he was certainly the 7th. He was like the one youthful member of that team, and really helped them out at times.

...can somebody tell me exactly WHY they let Trevor Ariza go again?
