Re: 2012 NBA Draft Discussion
If anyone in the top 6 won besides the Bobcats/Wizards people would still say rigged.
Hornets: what everyone is saying now
Kings: To possibly either help stay in Sacramento or enticing to move elsewhere
Cavs: Still trying to help out for losing Lebron in that fashion, etc.
Nets: Give them some momentum in moving to Brooklyn, or possibly for Dwight, etc.Saints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, LightningComment

For me I think the perfect pick for the Cavs would be Beal. I think he's going to be fantastic and would fit great with Kyrie.Wolverines Packers Cubs Celtics

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Discussion
If Dwight, or another "Shaq like" player had come out sooner it may have happened then. But trust, I'm not trying to build a case for the fix, lol. I really don't care if it is or it isn't. It just seems really fishy (and I'll admit that's probably the weakest of the examples).

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Discussion
Come on now guys with all the conspiracies and such. If they was really going to rig this thing do you really think he would send Davis to New Orleans instead of New York?? I'm in the group that says you could write up a rig story for many teams each year and this was one them. If Stern is going to rig the lottery it would be done to better the business of the league and trust me having Davis or Dwight(if the nets could have traded the pick as part of a deal for Dwight) in New York in a brand new arena with brand new jerseys to sell than Davis in New Orleans where no matter what they do they will always be second fiddle to the Saints. It's just not the smarter business move. There is no way anybody can explain how it is better business for Davis to be in the N.O. Instead of NY.
To take it a step further if it was really rigged why in the hell would they have had the two can't miss labeled guys in Durant and Oden sent to Portland and Seattle when Boston, New York, and others was there?? Why in the 97 draft also known as the Tim Duncan sweepstakes would they not have sent him to Boston when they could have easily got away with it(Boston had far and away the best chance to win the lottery that year) and send him to San Antonio?? I mean come on guys if Stern was really going to take a chance on ruining the credibility of the game he damn sure wouldn't do it to send these guys to cities like San Antonio, Portland, Seattle and others instead of cities like New York, Boston and others. It is not better business sense and the reward comes nowhere near close to risk.Comment

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Discussion
Also on the Dwight draft since it keeps getting brought up Dwight was not the slam dunk number one pick. There was a lot of talk on who should go number one between him or Okafor. It was close to split on who should go number one and many felt Okafor was more ready of the two and Dwight had the higher upside. So let's not just spin it like Orlando was gifted the next Shaq like guy cause they themselves didn't know who they was going to pick right away.Comment

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Discussion
Also for those saying it was rigged for the Cavs last year let's not forget the pick they actually won the lotto with was the Clippers pick. If the Clippers would have put any kind of protection on it they would have won the lotto. Cleveland's actual pick fell to the worst possible spot it could have been at number four. So if it was rigged then it was to make Donald Sterling look like even more of an idiot for trading away an unprotected lotto pick that ended up being the number one pick.Comment

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Discussion
Nobody is arguing that it's rigged.
Just saying it smells too funny or seems too fishy for this to just "simply happen", especially when you look at Stern's quote after the Hornets were sold and even looking at recent draft history. Some things are just too strong to be ignored and simply say 'There's nothing going on, everything is fine', especially in a league that's being questioned enough as it is.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Discussion
People are actually surprised David Stern and Tom Benson(owner of the dirtiest organization in sports) made a deal?
Even if it's all on the level, people have a hard time believing it. The NBA has no one to blame but itself.Comment

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Discussion
First, PrettyT11, let me say I hate conspiracy theories too. I'm actually laughing at myself for even seeing some kind of possibility to this one. Now onto your series of posts, lol.

What the league does care about is the team they own. The team that created all sorts of controversy for them when they were blocking trades bc they wanted to keep them relevant TODAY for potential buying partners. And the team they recently sold in a way that seemed like they were being done a favor that needed to be paid back in some way, lol. One thing I am dead serious about is that the Hornets were the ONLY team that could've gotten the #1 pick to make me raise an eyebrow.

Seriously though, I'll officially completely eliminate this one from my list.

I'm just saying when people want to go looking for something there is always something to try and spin or make something small into something big.
One of my previous post dispells all that recent draft history stuff. If there was such a thing as a fix then Oden and Durant wouldn't have ended up where they went. The Clippers wouldn't have won the lotto when they was the worst franchise in all of sports. Toronto and Milwaukee wouldn't have won the lotto. Tim Duncan would have been a Celtic instead of playing in San Antonio (again that would have been the easiest fix to get away with). Or they would remember that the Cavs actually had the worst record in the league when they got LeBron and so on and so on. But I get it though nobody mentions none of those years because it doesn't go along with their it's rigged storylines or theory.Comment

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Discussion
Most definitely. Other than the literal context, Brooklyn is not "NY" in this case... and the Nets are NOT the Knicks. I don't remember the league doing the Nets any favors before and being a cheap cab ride closer to "The Mecca" doesn't make them an NBA darling. In short, the league doesn't care about the Nets (sorry Pack).
Otherwise, you're crazy(not literally lol)to think the league doesn't want BOTH New York Teams(since that is what we are now)to do well just like they'd rather have both LA Teams do well at the sametime. They may not care if one of them loses(mainly the Nets) but they damn sure would rather have both New York AND Brooklyn do well.
I said back in this thread early on that it would be "interesting" if Brooklyn got the first pick(Barkley and others said the samething)because of the fact you have Stern's hometown getting a team with a new Arena, new Owner AND already having an elite PG in tow...it made TOO much sense for BK to win the Lottery this year.
And honestly, they would've been the only team where I would've probably called Shenanigans on...that is until the Hornets were finally sold, then they get the 2014 All Star Game and then on top of that hearing Stern's comments right AFTER they were sold. That's when it started to add up like, "Wait a minute now...".#RespectTheCultureComment

I have seen numerous post here and stuff other places where people are saying its rigged. Hell there was even a guy here saying it was rigged before the lotto even happened.
