    Re: 2012 NBA Draft Discussion

To go along with Davis' wingspan and solid motor, I love his instincts and feel for the game.

That's what could make him more than a special talent. Right now I think he'll for sure be an impact player, but it's difficult to gauge how great he can be. Some people have called him a franchise changer and that's the only thing I would disagree with. I would say he has a really good chance to be a fringe All-Star within a few years similar to the impact Al Horford makes or like Serge...

Other than that I don't think you can criticize the guy for much.

I usually cringe when I hear that someone has grown a foot and had to change positions. But you can clearly see he's made the adjustments and I can't tell he's new to the position.

And if he plays in the Olympics or even just working out with some of the best players in the World, that won't do nothing but help his career and give him a chance to start building/working on his game before he even reports to Camp.

Yeah the USA thing could be big if he does anything with them and I think the fact that he'll be playing under Monty once he arrives in NO could be a big thing as he preaches D and playing hard.

Look, if NOH fans want to pass on Davis, Charlotte would be more than happy to take him LOL.

Re: Zeller, I don't see anything more than Tyler Hansbrough in him. And that's fine. But not for a top 10-12 pick IMO. I know every team needs solid rotation players, but I don't see Zeller's upside. He's a 10 ppg, 8 rpg guy if he started IMO. Less off the bench. I'll be interested to see where he goes in the draft.

It can't get here soon enough!!!

            Re: 2012 NBA Draft Discussion

Thought this was kind of a cool read on Harrison Barnes:

Round 1 of Barnes vs. Gilchrist
The 2009 NBA Top 100 Camp was one of the greatest camp collections of talent in the past decade, as 23 of the top 25 prospects attended the camp. During camp, the biggest head-to-head matchup was Michael Gilchrist against Harrison Barnes. At the time, Gilchrist was the nation's best junior and Barnes the No. 1 senior. If they'd met before, it certainly wasn't on a stage this big. That year, I ran the camp, and Barnes called me two weeks prior to tip. "Please let me play against the best you have coming to camp," he said. We ran him through the gauntlet -- Jereme Richmond, Gilchrist and C.J. Leslie.

The matchup between Barnes and Gilchrist was a tale of two styles. Barnes is a thinker, the guy who examines the situation, formulates a plan and executes. Gilchrist's approach is much less complex. While Barnes is a planner, Gilchrist is in the moment. He was the aggressor versus Barnes and won the first half. Barnes struck back in the second as Gilchrist suffered an ankle injury. In a great matchup, Gilchrist scored the win on a bad wheel.
Three days later, my phone rang. It was Barnes. "The next time I see him, I'll know his tendencies," Barnes said. "That won't happen again."

            Barnes, Prather and the offer
Barnes is a list guy. As high school sophomore, he kept a list of higher-ranked players, and he was intent on methodically taking down each one. In the spring of his junior year, North Carolina had a few offers out to players at his position. On the first day of the open period, Roy Williams visited with Barnes. The next day Williams flew to Tennessee and offered fellow SF Casey Prather a scholarship. Barnes took note.

At the Real Deal In The Rock, Barnes saw me as I was walking into the gym.
"What's his number?" he said. At first, I was caught off guard. It took me a minute to figure out he was asking who Prather was. I told him, and he said, "Make sure you're there. I'll give you something to write about."
Barnes held Prather to four points in the first half and scored 21 himself. He also led in cold shoulders given. However, Prather had the final say because he was on a better team and it rallied for a win. Regardless, Barnes made his statement.

Why do people think Perry Jones and Terrance Jones are going to be these superstars in the league? I see nothing special with them.

Mostly all I here about them are bust(especially Perry). There's been a rare group that really like Terrance, but not a lot. Personally I like them both.

I don't see anything too special about either. If they fall to the later stages of the first round I think it's a great pick, but I don't see them becoming anything that great.

Rockets just traded Chase Bundinger(sp?) to Minn for the 18th pick in the 1st round.

Looks like they really are trying to do everything to rent Dwight for a year. Even if they don't get him, that's 3 picks in the middle of the first round. They could package 2 of those picks to move up into the top 10 and still have a pick left to improve. Really looking forward to see which direction they go.

Wow, that's a great trade for them in my opinion.

Regarding PJIII and Terrence, I don't think Terrence will do anything in the NBA. Don't really see a place for him in the league other than as a bench player/possibly role player.

PJIII has a ton of potential, but I don't think he'll reach his ceiling. I think he'll be a starter in the NBA though, and I'm hoping that if Zeller is off the board, Milwaukee will give him a shot.

LOL @ the Wolves. Are they trying to start a team of all SF?! Wesley Johnson, Derrick Williams, Chase Budinger, Martell Webster, Michael Beasley (a tweener I guess, but Love plays the PF?).
