The Lakers could still win a championship without Kobe. I say they trade him to a team stacked with young talent, hmm..(Grizzlies maybe?) They can rebuild the team now, and still compete with the top teams in the west. and no longer have the distraction of kobe's legal issues. I think the team has better chemistry with shaq, and from different media sources, word has it kobe is more of an outkast, i think the players mingle with shaq better then they do kobe. Give shaq his 7 year extension, ship kobe off to the grizzlies, so kobe and jerry west can make love again. the lakers could demand 3 young talents...Possiblye...Mike Miller, maybe stromile, and a 1st round pick.

The grizzlies would make kobe the highest paid player in the nba, and build the team around him. Think of this line up:

5. Gasol
4. Wright
3. Battier
2. Bryant
1. Williams

with a decent bench to boot

Kobe needs to get out of the situation in LA, and get a fresh new start. we all know he'll be found innocent during next years off-season. Your not gonna put kobe away with his premium-paid/creme-of-the-crop defense, and his clean record.....for some psycho chick who has a history of telling stories.

anyway, bring kobe to the grizzlies. And watch music happen. I think west could make it happen too. i feel sorry for kupcheck, he has some big decisions lingering over his head. and he's been under alot of heat in LA for some of the very questionable decisions he's made since West went north of the border.

and as for the shaq/kobe issue, its possible its some kinda media ploy to take off from the legal mess, but i seriously doubt it. You dont say things like that to the public about other players at an attempt to start talk about something else. Kobe took some genuine personal shots at Shaq, that aint planned, that could really hurt shaq's marketability, and as we know, shaq is serious about his bottom-line($$$$)

anyway, this all makes for a potentially great climax, to an already storied pre-season.

I noticed Kobe said he went to Phil and he did not want to get involved what does this mean?

Maybe shaq is voicing the opinions of the Lakers organization?

Phil has hinted at picking up M.J. to fill Kobe's spot if he is convicted.

Maybe Kobe opting out of his contract hurt the organization and they are now happy kobe is in
big trouble?

Maybe Payton will play 2 guard and fisher will start all year?

If the Mavs were remotely interested, they'd have to give up Dirk because Finley, Walker, or Jamison wouldn't cut it. Now maybe a combination of Jamison and Finley would work but even that's stretching it.
