Re: Jeremy Lin
Do we really have to go through this crap with every flavor of the month that comes along? When Lin was riding high and Linsanity started guys were in here talking about how he was making Jeffries look like a star and **** like that. The first down game Lin had suddenly it turned into 'well if Jeffries was hitting his shots' even though Lin singlehandedly willed him into making them before (sarcasm).
Lin gets shut down by the Heat and suddenly Carmelo wasn't making shots (nevermind the dude is two games into a return from a injury stint) and the whole roster got shut down, not just Lin. It just never ceases to amaze me how we give one guy credit for all the wins a teams get and the secodn they start losing or he plays poorly, everybody but that guys is the reason."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: Jeremy Lin
So one of the top Maryland football recruits, Stefon Diggs, tweeted something incredibly offensive about Lin recently. I'll put it in spoilers because of that:
Spoiler
It's bull**** like this that keeps prejudices and negative perceptions alive and relevant, ASIDE from the from the fact that it's just incredibly stupid.
The Terps needs to ban him from social media, IMO.Comment

The Terps needs to ban him from social media, IMO.The search for racist Jeremy Lin comments continued on Friday with media attacking Ben & Jerry's and a top high school football recruit for supposed racism towards the Knicks star.
Ben & Jerry's, the popular ice cream maker, drew the ire of Deadspin for its "Taste The Lin-Sanity" ice cream flavor available only at Harvard Square. Deadspin questioned whether the inclusion of fortune cookies and lychee, a fruit native to Southeast Asia, was racism on behalf of Ben & Jerry's.
The answer is no, of course.
There is nothing inherently racism about including pieces of fortune cookie in an ice cream flavor, even if it is typically considered to be an Asian staple. It similarly wouldn't be racist to give a white basketball player a vanilla ice cream tribute or an African-American player ice cream with fudge swirls.
The other big piece of potential Lin racism on Friday was a tweet by Stefon Diggs, the No. 10 player in the country according to Rivals.com.
Diggs tweeted "Everybody needs to get off Jeremy Lin egg roll and dumplings he's good though."
All of these news organizations going after Ben & Jerry's, Diggs and any other person that makes a Lin related comment is a blatant example of the media grasping at straws. Outrage at ESPN and Whitlock was clearly warranted, but not every single thing that someone does is racist towards Lin.Comment

Re: Jeremy Lin
But is the guy doing the article trying to say that the Diggs' tweet is harmless? I mean, not only is that a representation of him as a person, but now it's associated with the Univ. of Maryland. It may not be RACIST, but it's really inappropriate even if it is JUST a stereotype.
And me personally, it's like, why would you say stuff like this when people could make the argument that "we" are the first to call foul when stereotypical jokes are made about us, whether it's intentional or just comedy.
But I guess it's another reason why people think athletes + social media are a bad idea.Comment

Re: Jeremy Lin
Nope, not mad really. It's just it's getting tiresome the way we like to heap all the praise on guys as if they're the sole reason they're teams are winning and then when they don't perform we go out of our way to make sure we point out everybody else on the squad.Comment

Before Lin, they were losing majority of there games.
He comes in and they start a 7 win streak.
According to your posts, you seem like you just flat out don't like this kid.
Just chill man, and let the kid be.Last edited by Nathan_OS; 02-25-2012, 04:44 PM.PSN: MajorJosephxComment

Re: Jeremy Lin
We know you hate the Lin tornado with a passion. And we know you've taken up the role of Old Man Jenkins just waiting to tell the kids "I told you so". Don't hide your feelings behind a social commentary about sports fans as a whole.
You are the same guy that wished Lin would go back to mediocrity just so you wouldn't have to hear about him on TV anymore.
Where's the Ed Lover gif just for that?Comment

So are we gonna pretend this is the reason you're mad?

Re: Jeremy Lin
Agreed Matrix....the ESPN thing was a bit crazy in my eyes. People had to know that wasn't intentional and it's been a phase that's been used a million times. Now if the origin of the saying actually was derived from the slur I could understand the uproar.PSN: DoubleLGetsBusy
