Open race between the top 2 now but as we know when it comes to this award, record is ultimately going to be the deciding factor between the two.

Back for the weekend, LeBron deserves the award clearly after last night. LeBron has Kevin beat in statistics, defense, and now the head to head argument means nothing. LeBron deserves his third MVP this year.

I dont think that puts Durant out IMO

I think it goes right until the end of the season

Was it an open race before the game or after?

Leading up to the game everyone (media, friends, internet) were saying if OKC wins the MVP is Durants...

Despite of what LBJ been doing all year.

I know Durant is a fan fav but geez.

Im just un easy on people back tracking on their claim that "whoever wins this game, wins the MVP" while Miami been struggling and OKC's been hot.

Problem was Miami started dipping and losing games and that right there is a detriment to you in a race while OKC was just killing it lately even if Westbrook and Harden had alot to do with it

You can't start going on losing streaks in the 2nd half of the season and win the MVP award

I agree but there are plenty of games left.

Stuff could happen like a 10 game win streak to end the season.

True, but I think the point was that if Durant continued killing it the way that he was with the way LeBron and the Heat were playing the losing would have been too much to overcome from LeBron.

Remember they dont just take individuals into account, we've discussed this over and over and over again

Somehow over a short period there has somehow been this quiet team thing apart of the ever changing criteria with the media

Just seems everyone forgot about LeBron's first half, in which he dominated in MJ fashion. But the Heat stuggle a bit just as OKC gets hot so Durant is automatically the favorite.

Anyone think that LeBron losing MVP would be good for him? It would put less focus on him as an individual and more on the team winning the Finals.

Plus, winning MVP again would put even more pressure on him than there already is.

                            Just a random thought.

Good point. However if LeBron ever wants to erase the hate he needs to dominate a season from tip off to the NBA Finals, and this year is his best chance. And I just watched the game again and noticed, Durant had 9 turnovers. The rest of the Thunder team had 11. That's what I call good defense.

And I didn't say LeBron was better than MJ or anything, I said statistically he's having a season similar to what a prime MJ did. MJ is better than LeBron. Geez...

The thing is, if LeBron wins MVP but then wins the Finals, MVP will be an afterthought. The focus will be on the championship.

If he wins MVP but loses the finals, then everyone uses it as an excuse to say he only plays in the regular season. Which we both know is stupid, but thats what would happen.
