LBJ's complete body of work this year would be enough if the season ended today. Since it doesnt he really has to finish the season strong and at the very least match KD's output in their next match-up. That being said I do believe that LBJ's defensive play puts him in a class above KD this year. KD has improved but he isnt being asked to take on and perform well in multiple roles on that side of the ball like LBJ has been. You couldnt ask KD to handle Paul Gasol in the post and then move him onto the opposing teams PG when the matchups change. He's that that kind of player yet.

That's funny, because that's exactly what Scott Brooks asked of Durant Thursday against LA, and Durant didn't allow Pau nor Sessions a single bucket.

Same thing happened today. After shutting down Deng he switched to the 4 and had success against Omer Asik in the post.

Shutting down the great offensive talent of Luol Deng?...And Omer Asik is no Pau Gasol.

LeBron shut down the entire Pacers team in the meeting where Wade hit the game winner. Defended all 5 positions.

Agree with Sam, if LeBron outplays Durant in this next meeting, he deserves it based on his defensive ability, not to mention all the stats we've debated. He has had too good of a year to not get it.

HOWEVER, if Miami keeps playing like this they're going to have a tough Playoffs.

Did you bother reading my post?

          No, he didn't.

By the way, I have every single possession LeBron has defended this season and I can assure you he hasn't had the slightest bit of success against 4's or 5's. In fact, he's defended all of 15 post possessions this season(not many) and is allowing .95 ppp and being scored on at a clip of 60%.

For comparisons sake, Iggy has defended 34 post possessions, is allowing .75 ppp, and is holding offensive players to 38.2% shooting. Deng has defended 51 post possessions, is allowing .88 ppp, and is holding offensive players to 45.1% shooting. Durant has defended 30 post possessions, is allowing .67 ppp and is holding offensive players to 30% shooting.

Agree with Sam, if LeBron outplays Durant in this next meeting, he deserves it based on his defensive ability, not to mention all the stats we've debated. He has had too good of a year to not get it.
Sorry to break it to you, but the award was pretty much decided earlier today. LeBron's numbers continue to slide, the Heat continue to lose, and Durant continues to lead his team to emphatic victories against the leagues best teams.(Durant is undefeated against LeBron, Howard, Kobe, Wade, and Bulls)

Even if the award were purely statistical, which it isn't, the gap between the two isn't large enough to warrant nor justify giving the award to LeBron on that basis. Especially defensively, where he's posting numbers that pale to KD's.

Defeating the Bulls without 2 starters isn't anything to write home about... either way KD is my MVP.

Its not but his team is not melting right now like Miami is, and you already know they are looking at team success to determine this

Honestly it was LeBron's to lose and he is giving it away...but IMO they're keeping Spo around too long, he needs to be gone

Yeah but you don't bounce a coach before the Playoffs begin and who comes in? Riles?

No you don't... I dont think he should've been back this year though

I honestly think they rode the talent thing moreso than just his coaching IMO

Now that doesn't work and he is exposed because if none of those guys are having a hero night chances are slim

...but win or lose he should be gone this summer IMO of course

If Miami doesn't win it this season, expect Riles or some legendary coach(Phil Jackson? Larry Brown?) to step in next year.

Spoelstra will be back next year and at this point I'm willing to wager a small amount of money on that as well. And if they win it all, then he definitely isn't going anywhere.

And going the retread route rarely works and Phil Jackson is the exception, not the rule.

You're gonna fire a coach after making it to the finals?

                              Right.

                                Right.

                                What does that mean?

Tons of coaches have made the finals and didnt win

Its not like he's a genius coach who is in desperate demand

Mike Brown made the finals and he was let go wasn't he?

Point is, everyone has a limitation and its looking right now like he has taken the players as far as he can. If you sit there and watch what he does you can see his coaching strategy in disarray when really challenged, unless one of his guys are in hero mode.

I posted some of the stuff he was telling the team when they lost a game last week.
