Um I never said it wasnt a good coach trying to motivate his team. I said his speech was trash. I dont know what this has to do with what I said. I honestly dont even understand why we've labeled this a speech...

If the Spurs lost that game, noone would have mentioned this 'I want some nasty' "speech".

Are you serious bro? The only thing not "generic" about what he said was "I want some nasty" How Brilliant

We know Pop is a fantastic HoF coach. But comon man.

I loved his speech personally, but I do agree with Kingkilla in a way.

People seem to take what coaches say in these "mic'd up" segments way too seriously and judge coaches based off 10 second sound bites.

I don't need to hear Mike Brown talk to know he's not the best coach in the world and I don't need to hear Pops give a motivational pep talk to know he's one of the best to do it.

But yeah, I personally liked Pops in that segment it was one of the best ones I've ever heard.

It's just the intensity of how he talks, look at his face, his gesture. He's real. Clearly it's not what he says that got me all hyped, but how he said it. Theses things always touch me.

And I didn't know if they where gona win or not when he did that, but it brought tears to my eye. Also the way they listen to him, they are such an amazing group of persons living the moment. Maybe I'am too sensitive though.

Spurs is an army of friends, and if I where OKC I would be scared.

Well I mean, we all know they only let us hear the generic stuff...(I would love if they let us hear the X's and O's) And no, HOPEFULLY nobody is judging coaching ability by those segments...

but damn, coaches are motivators too.....it's fun to hear....when you hear Doc or Pop say something and the team immediately responds, it's an awesome moment...win or lose

He shouldnt get an Emmy or anything....but it's was good ****. If you want to take it as random babble kk, that's cool....the Spurs sure didn't.

We have to take this next game....

We did a great job of going straight up Game 1, and the refs did a good job of not bailing OKC out. Hopefully this continues game 2...

Re-watching the game...OKCs defense was scary good...combined with how tentative we played, I'm glad we survived.

Should be a fun game tonight... need some excitement after yesterday's lackluster start to the ECF.

Serge Ibaka sat on the bench for the final 16:01 of Oklahoma City's 101-98 Game 1 loss to the Spurs.

“I think every decision you make, if it doesn't work out, you say, ‘Why'd you do that?' and I'm right (there) with you on that,” said Scott Brooks.
Brooks used a smaller lineup, playing Kevin Durant at the power forward spot to stretch the defense and also forces the opponent to matchup smaller.

“We've done it in the past and have had a lot of success, so you can't really look back and beat yourself up too much … but I will,” Brooks said.

“It was nothing against what Serge did.”

The Thunder were outscored 16-2 in terms of points in the paint in the fourth period.

“Going into the next game, I see him playing his normal minutes,” Brooks said.

I don't see how having the league's best shot blocker on the bench is a good thing. Whatever "success" he had was minimal at best. We could be looking at a different series right now. However, I'm not taking anything away from the Spurs. Those guys balled out on Sunday.

Some of these coaches can't win...

People single certain coaches out for every damn reason. Few people point out how OKC has had many many close game victories during this post season, when Brooks' biggest criticism is his late game execution. I've seen very few give Brooks credit for pulling these games out..

There are very few perfect coaches. There are like two coaches that get passes and then all the rest get thrown under the bus and "should be fired because they are holding their teams back".

I don't expect OKC to beat San Antonio to be completely honest with you, Brooks or not, and if you watched closely enough you knew that Spurs run was inevitable anyway

I just dont think its smart to try to go small against the Spurs and putting KD at the PF spot at all... One things for sure, thats definitely not going to help your chances of rebounding anything against them.

I do think Ibaka had like 5 fouls or something of that sort but Ginobili just started dicing up the Thunder defense so I dont know what kind of help Ibaka would've been

Im not down on Brooks as I am a couple of other guys, but its always funny seeing his only 1 play for the last second shot when it happens just for message board jokes, all in good fun.

The Spurs approach is just confident -- I've never seen a group like this since those old Bulls' teams -- I've seen a lot of cockiness but not this type of confidence.
