If it doesn't happen, won't be for a lack of trying. The man has lost 15 lbs preparing for the Olympics.

I believe he can lead the Knicks to a title, but it won't be easy with LeBron & the Heatles. Chi-town with D-Rose & an upstart Pacers team.

I don't know why anyone would at this point. He's gotten out of the first round a single time so he hasn't even been close. His ball-stopping game combined with Woody's iso offense is just too easy for good defensive teams to contain in the postseason. Hopefully Lin will be a steady PG and make the game easier for Melo in '12-13 and keep the ball moving but I highly doubt that will happen.

Carmelo is a great player, and he might win, but only after he leaves NY. You don't win championships in NY after 1973. Ask Ewing, he'll be happy to tell you.

          That sir was unnecessary.

On topic, I sure hope so. I think with a full training camp and hopefully a season with less injuries than last season, we'll be a different team. Melo, STAT, and then Lin were all injured for a significant amount of time, now we're already behind with Shump out until January but that's plenty of time to get ready for the playoffs. Clearly, Melo is taking this season seriously, as I doubt he is losing all of this weight without any regard to the actual NBA season, so I think he's willing to do what it takes to win. Hopefully, Woodson knows what that is and can instill it in him, but I see a talented team if all of this Bird Rights bull**** can go our way. But let's start with getting home court advantage, and then we'll go on from there.

And also, the Knicks need a point guard, a sixth man, and probably a SG as well, although I like Shump. Not all of it rests on Melo.

Honestly I hope so, but looking at the East right now I don't see the Knicks taking it in the next few years. So unless they do something crazy and he starts playing as more of a team player then it probably won't happen.

I wouldn't be suprised if Carmelo Anthony never wins a ring at all. I'd put Dwight Howard in the same boat.

I'd expect Kevin Durant and Derrick Rose to get their rings next. That is, after LeBron, Wade, and Bosh win one or two more.

Very difficult for a ball stopper like him. Although for his defence he plays in a roster that isn't suited for him unlike the 2009 squad where he got to the WCF.

Anyway, I doubt he will get a championship.

Re: Can Melo Get His Ring Next?

I feel this year we will see a different Melo. I saw something different in him towards the end of the season, and I feel he will do the things needed to make the Knicks a better team. He made some great passes and guys just missed. We will see the transformation from Anthony.

I know the Heat won the championship , but I dont think they will be as dominate as many feel. That is my gut feeling. I dont get the same vide with them as I did with MJ and the Bulls.

I feel the Heat played great, but also benefited playing a young team that truly was not ready for that stage.

Anyways I know I'm in the minority here, but I have been here before. I will stick to my Guns and say Anthony can get his ring, and do it as a Knick, and also be the reason why we won.

This picture is obviously old seeing as LeBron just won a ring but

I feel Carmelo is a loser an will never win a championship in the NBA. He has to change his selfish ways an give consistent effort on both sides of the ball. Hes suppose to be the leader of his team yet he never sets a good example for his teammates.

I think you guys overstate Carmelo's defensive woes. I think he does try to play defense, he's just not a good defender. All you can ask of the guy is to play hard and work his *** off in the offseason. Which he does.

I think he proved this when he was playing the 4 when stat was out. I think he should be playing power forward because he is a better post defender then an on ball defender.

To answer the OP,I think he can as long as the Knicks can add another piece and they finally stay healthy. I think Woodson did a good job in holding players accountable and making his players play defense.

Prior to the last few weeks of the season. I felt the exact same way as you do. I told many around me that Melo does absolutely nothing to better his teammates.

Then when it was just him and no Amare or Lin. I saw a change. I saw him starting to get it. I saw him realizing how he can play to make his team better.

He has heard and read a lot of the criticism, and wants to change that. We will find out pretty soon. You will see a different Melo this year.
