If we're taking it that literally then no player who ever stepped on an NBA floor "didn't attempt to play defense"."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier
"Beware of geeks bearing formulas." - Warren BuffetComment

Re: Can Melo Get His Ring Next?
If he played somewhat similar to LeBron in terms of dishing when required to and giving extra effort on defense he'd probably have won a few rings by now.
But I don't think he'll get a ring now, his best shot was with Denver.
New York, as much I love em', will never get the man anything but a few individual awards.death to mollyComment

In the seven games or so that I saw the Woodson, Melo, Lin, Amare group play together I thought they looked real good. I believe they went 6-1 in that span. Melo was passing the ball well and playing solid D, hitting the glass. Melo really picked up his game late in the year. He obviously did not like playing in D'Antoni's offense but he missed so many wide open good looks last year. He won't be missing those shots this year.
The guy is just too talented to count out. He needs to mature some more. One thing that I've noticed is that he gets real mopey when things are going bad. It shows in his body language, shot selection and in his effort on the boards and on D. I think that's a big part of the reason why he is 17-37 in the playoffs. Not having playoff success is one thing but his teams just get destroyed.

Re: Can Melo Get His Ring Next?
Doubt it unless he goes to Miami jk. I really don't think so Melo isn't a guy you can count on to get you their, I view him as Robin without a Batman he shouldn't be "THE" man on the Knicks someone else needs to take that role from him. He doesn't create enough for his teammates which he can do very well but he doesn't seem to want to. He is 28 years old so for him to not be mature by now is a bad thing he needs to man up a not try worry about his stats and start to worry about where his team is going.Comment

Re: Can Melo Get His Ring Next?
I actually like Melo, but I've never pictured him as a proved leader of a team. He's very athletic and a great ball player, but he doesn't show any sort of "killer instinct". The Knicks are missing some key pieces to get it done.
He will have that occasional huge numbers game, but it's always at the expense of the rest of his team mates. He can't get his and get his team mates involved too and that's what it will take.NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers
NBA: Dallas Mavericks
MLB: Texas Rangers
NHL: Dallas Stars
NCAA: Alabama Crimson Tide

Re: Can Melo Get His Ring Next?
Melo's best chance was with the Nuggets team when they went to the conference finals.
The reason why they were so successful is because Melo would be Melo and everyone else had a role.
With the Knicks, you have Amare, Melo, and Lin sharing possessions. That's pretty difficult to manage.Comment

Re: Can Melo Get His Ring Next?
When did I say all of that? Melo inabilitie to create for his teammates is mostly why his teams never make far into the playoffs sure he is clutch but why can't he create and be more of a playmaker for others he can do it but he'd rather put up numbers and fill up his stat line and thats why he will never win a ring.Comment

Re: Can Melo Get His Ring Next?
Why do people always say this? Why can't people just accept that he's just not a great playmaker? Melo is very good, maybe the best, at what he does. He's the most versatile scorer in the game. He's just not as great at setting up for others as he is as at setting up himself. People act like he just goes out there and says, "You know what: I don't really care how this game goes and I don't care about winning, I'm just gonna put up 50 and go home." He does what he does to win. He doesn't score points just to accumulate numbers or to gain fans, he does it to win games.
