Read somewhere he's from PA, I know that isn't always the biggest factor in him staying I.e. D-Will but who knows what Bynum is thinking he's been pretty quiet throughout all of this

Getting Dwight is huge for them defensively, but their perimeter defense and athleticism on the perimeter is still suspect. There still behind OKC as others have mentioned, OKC has the matchups to defend the Lakers as well as score.

Having the best interior defender in the NBA can mask a lot of flaws.

OKC's back court is better, but the Lakers front court is better. I still think bigs win in the NBA, despite what the Heat did.

This clears up the offensive issues of not having a mobile PnR center, this helps solidify the defensive end immensely, and gives the Lakers the most athletic big man in the league. Partnered with Steve Nash. I'm stunned.

In the words of Andrew Bynum, "There's a Bank in every city".

All Philly has to do is throw him a few extra dollars and he'll be happy. Plus it's almost like going back home since he'll be playing right across the river from Jersey.

I'll believe that when I see it.

Aren't the 76ers notorious for not paying their players? Well, I guess outside of the hilarious contracts they gave Iggy and Brand.

There is no way anyone can convince me that a team with a top 5 PG, the best center in the game, one of the best PF, and Kobe is not the leader in the West.

Even with Durant and Westbrook, I'm not sure that OKC has the horses to beat them. It'll be a very good battle, but the Lakers talent and experience should carry them.

                    Dude..unless...

                    1) Mike Brown and staff learn how to coach
                    2) Eyenga proves to be that defensive/rebounding shooting guard off the bench

...I still say the Lakers are the 3rd best IN THE WEST.

Sure, they've got the bullets, but if the gun jams....don't matter.

I'm happy with the trade though, for no other reason than I won't have to here about Andrew Bynum being a Laker for the next 5 years. I did not like that guy.

It wouldn't make sense for the sixers to go after Bynum without a signed extension unless they were gonna pay him next summer

Yeah Spurs WERE arguably the 2nd best but the lakers getting Nash was enough to say they are better, still I believe OKC's youth puts them on top

Seriously, how much more can you disrespect Miami and OKC by calling LA the favorites...

Lakers are aged, Dwight's back is in question, their bench was the worst in the league last year and their offense looked just disgusting at times with Mike Brown.

They are undoubtedly a top contender, but to call them the overall favorites is such a stretch.

To the Mavs? I don't think so. Lakers wouldn't have traded for D-12 if they didn't think he would stay. Also D-12 has said he would re-sign with the Lakers after the 12-13 season.
The Bird rights only allow a 5th year. Not like he'll get less money, just one less year. It's moot tho...He's young enough that barring injury, he'll get another max contract after that deal is up either way.
