Damn, Houston got railed. Martin fits the Thunder better, Lamb is a hell of a prospect and they got, probably, a lotto pick. Maybe two.

    Presti is a genius.

I think OKC should've done this deal in the summer.

I totally understand the premise of the trade (ie. trade Harden now so it won't be a distraction later), but they really, really needed Harden's playmaking ability to go far in the playoffs. Kevin Martin can score like Harden and Jeremy Lamb will become a really good player, but neither of them can make plays like James Harden and essentially OKC has one sole playmaker in Russell Westbrook and that's it.

Sources say Rockets fully intend to sign Harden to contract extension he was seeking from OKC before Wednesday's extension deadline
        Well then.

Don't get me wrong, at least they're trying, but when you lose Lowry, Martin, Scola and Dragic and replace them with Asik, Lin and Harden... I just don't know. Either way they weren't going to win with what they had, but I'm not so sure this core is much better.. and now they're tied to them long term, depending on if Harden signs for the max.
When I think about it more, Houston could be trying to make themselves more attractive to FAs with Harden, without him, next summer a FA will look at a roster that would have only been Lin, Lamb, Patterson, And Asik plus a lot of youth. Replace Lamb with Harden, it's better to look at on paper. I think Houston would have rights to match an offer on Harden which they would match anything IMO. So go back to that post of all the possible free agents, Houston could be a playoff team with just one signing of those players.

You know a trade can't be official till we get the Chris Broussard seal of approval:

One thing from OKCs perspective though is...

Lamb and Martin are complete negatives on defense. Lamb is even worse on defense than can be imagined at times, he'll escort guys into the paint often.

I think Lamb will be a good player though, not sure if he'll be as good as Harden and I don't think neither get the Max contract.

I don't think the Rockets even have a core, they are so often putting all of these guys up for trade it's like they are threading water until they can convince a bigger name to come here.

When the NBA releases jersey sales this year they should keep track of something else too..

                    Out of:

                    Knicks "Linsanity" shirts
                    Dwight "Loyalty" shirts
or OKC "Fear the Beard" shirts

Which one sells the most in the coming year?

I don't know if the Thunder could have gotten more value out of a trading Harden. Saying that this deal comes down to Jeremy Lamb long term and where those draft picks are in the draft.

Even if Martin is injury prone, you get Lamb, a lotto pick, one probable and one unlikely, and the Bobcats 2nd rounder.

Its almost unfair that Presti can do this.

It's tough to predict or say really, what OKC could have gotten. I can't be too mad at their haul. It's a damn bold move. They had a title contending team with Harden, they must have supreme confidence in KD/WB and of course Kevin Martin.

Martin is brittle no doubt. He is a defensive liability. However he won't have to be double teamed now and can get to the free throw line at will. It's certainly going to be an interesting mix.

yeah i agree thats a big loss for OKC. Harden's playmaking will be severely missed. Cook's outside shooting off the bench is a big loss to me as well.

as a Laker fan i really wanted to beat OKC as they were last year.

Let's be honest. Harden > Martin, but not by that much. Either way, he was likely gone after this season, and Martin is likely gone after this season. OKC basically got Jeremy Lamb and 2 1st round picks for nothing.
