Re: 92' Dream team vs 2012 USA team

With a healthy Dwight Howard/D Rose it's a competitive game without them not so much. Either way I'd take Dream Team in a one or done type of scenario.

I don't think D Rose makes a difference at all considering they have Williams, CP3, and Westbrook

I'd say them 3 that charles said and probably chris paul also would make the team, but if they had wade, rose and dwight instead of davis, harden and wetbrook id say it would be a really good game and hard to probably tell who'd win then

There's no way that the Dream Team would not blowout any other assembled team. Kobe has quite frankly, fallen off his rocker. Would be nice to see Jordan dominate against Kobe and Lebron just to end all the discussion.

I don't know why everybody keeps assuming any one player would dominate this game.. If you actually know anything at all about the team from 92' you'd know there wasn't ball domination from any one player like everybody keeps assuming would magically happen this time around. If anything Barkley was the one getting enough looks to take over, he won the MVP on the 92' team not Jordan, not Magic, not whoever else y'all are going to say is just supposed to "take over" or "dominate"..

And just as nobody from this year could stop Jordan 1 on 1, nobody from the 92' team could stop LeBron 1 on 1.. I dont why anybody would assume they should have too, both teams would obviously play within a TEAM concept defensively anyways..

You think Kobe has slowed down? You have know idea how much Bird and Magic had slowed down at that point in their careers.. I said from the start the 92' team would get a comfortable win over this years team but this blow out and domination crap is ridiculous, and I actually grew up watching those older guys play and I'm not being near as biased as the rest of you..

With Blake, Bosh, Wade, and Rose!!!
The dream team wasn't the quickest roster but I would still have to go with 92.

To me the biggest advantage the 2012 team would have would be that quickness.. The 92' team would pretty much have to put Jordan on the PG whether it be Westbrook, Williams, CP3 or of they had Rose.. Magic just wouldn't be able to stay with those guys, and Stockton was actually a pretty decent defender he could probably guard CP3 but those other 3 would just be too explosive IMO.. With Jordan or maybe Pippen off guarding the PGs who's left to guard LeBron and Durant? Even Kobe?..Heck maybe even Melo, of Melo and Durant were out there extending the floor and hitting those 3's they could do some damage.. But with Durant being such a sissy I don't see them being able to play him huge minutes against the tougher 92' team..

I think the 2012 team would definitely have more mismatches but I don't think that would be enough for them to win.

If they could have had Howard and maybe BG/Bosh I think this game could actually be muchhh closer.. Robinson wasn't in his prime yet, and as much as I like and respect Ewing I don't think he could physically hold DH12..

For me if it was one game the '12 team has a chance but if its a series the the '92 team wins hands down.

Dwight gets physically handled by guys like Perkins, and Sheed...why wouldnt Ewing be able to?

Come on man... you're just overrating guys massively

^ no he doesn't, and I think he's too fast and too strong for him, Ewing was never great defensively against athletic bigs...How am I overrating anybody? You are the one who said a team of 12 of the greatest basketball players in the world right now had no chance of even slowing Michael Jordan even a little bit.. YOU'RE over rating people.

See I disagree.. To me if it was one game the 92 team wins.. They're heart and pride could probably win A one game series alone.. But if it went best of 7, I'd see it easily going 5 games maybe 6 depending how well the 2012 could use mismatches..

23- you're talking the absolute best center in the entire world against a top 4 or 5 center of the 90s? And when in the hell has Sheed physically dominated Howard? Sheed hasn't even been relevant in like 5 years?.. I think you also forget athletes have evolved 20 years now, unless they go to doubling DH the man is going to score.. Plain and simple

23- you are just one of those guys that is so biased and stuck on your generation that your opinions will never change regardless of what happens.. 40 years from now teams could be full of 8 foot centers as athletic as LeBron and 6'6 PG guards as quick as AI and 7 foot guards as good as Jordan, and you'll be at home sitting in your damn rocking chair mumbling crap about how much better everybody was in 92 then they are now, regardless of how great those guys are. It's called BIASED.. It's the same way now with all those Bill Russell era fans..

You refuse to admit that today players are faster, stronger, jump higher, more guards are better ball handlers, more bigs can shoot, more players have the 3 point range, you refuse to see how people evolve and change.. Not saying that all players are this way but as a whole it's most certainly true..

Just because players like Ewing and Oakley and those badboy Pistons could knock you on your *** back in the day doesn't mean they were great hardnosed defenders, it means they were INTIMIDATING.. And if you haven't noticed you can't do that in today's NBA can you!!!?!? So tell me what in the hell would make a guy like Ewing such a force defensively to dominate DH? Imagine if guys like DH, LeBron, Bynum, all the monster freak athletes of today could knock the crap out of each other and stuff like they did back then.. Tell me they wouldn't be better than they were!.. Who would you rather be hit by, a bad boy Joe Dumars or a LeBron playing the same role? Come on man! I'd much rather take a rough hit from a Ewing or Mutombo back then than I would if DH could do the same thing..

I repeatedly say in this thread and in others than the 80/90s is my favorite era too, and Jordan I my all time favorite most amazing player of any sport I have ever watched, but I'm not gonna sit back and act like all these new guys are a bunch of push over scrubs just because the game is played a little different.. Don't be a fool man..

It's not like Dwight Howard has an amazing post game anyway. Ewing would hold his own, if not beat Howard.
