And just the fact that he cannot play heavy minutes means more burden on Steve Blake. Lol

Yep you have all 3 key starters (Howard, Nash, and Kobe (because of the injury)) unable to play more than 30 MPG.

That's too much to ask for that bench.

Nash really isn't the same guy we're all used to, which is sad. His stop and go, his speed, burst, they're all slow as hell now. He even got picked in the back court, the first time I've ever seen that. Even if they weren't in the princeton offense I'd wonder if Nash would look that much better. I have my doubts. He is 39 after all.

Ok, thought I heard them say it was the other way around

        I hear ya 24th

.... That said, I don't think this team (not all of it at least) can take the old Nash run and gun style ball all year without getting injured

If I were an opponent the best way to attack Nash is to make him work on defense so I'd punish him posting him up if I had a Deron sized PG or as with Collison make him chase me around and try to stay in front of me.. its alot of strain to hold down both ends of the court while running

That's always been the plan of attack on Nash, don't let him rest on defense.

Also, just like Charles said, if Nash is going to get burned constantly it will only put more pressure on Dwight to stay out of foul trouble. I know people like to think 'oh, well Dwight will mask Nash's deficiencies' well it'll be hard to mask anything when he's saddled on the bench with 2 fouls in the first five minutes of the game due to penetration. Dwight has always had a difficult time staying out of foul trouble, now it'll be compounded by Nash's inability to guard anyone.

Not only that but it seems like it's going to take a while for Howard to play back into game shape. People want him to be the Howard they're used to seeing but the guy had surgery in April and hasn't played any ball since then. To ask him to be the anchor of a team who has an aged back court is a lot at this juncture.

Howard will get back there thats just time, its only been 1 game

I agree with you about the foul trouble thing too... he really is going to have to watch it, but he'll get some stops and prevent guys from just going straight to the hoop as well, but I wouldnt be surprised if thats one of the things teams try... to attack both of them

As a Laker fan im not going really panic like ESPN or some other people.1 game 81 games left. Then Heat started off slow there first there. Its growing pains. But I do like what I seen from Kobe this will be the first time he can really play off ball. Not worried about Nash with only 4 assist he made great passes to Dwight which resulted into fouls.Which we all know he missed.I think after all-star break we should be fine.

Here's hypocrisy in its greatest form:

"The Lakers have all these new guys, playing in a new offense, and it will take some time to mesh."

And yet: the Mavericks trotted out a team missing Nowitzki, Kaman (their starting PF and C), and have NINE new players on their roster...

The storyline shouldn't have been about LA - it SHOULD have been about the Mavs...

Funny how we hand out free passes when it fits OUR ideas and perceptions...

                    That always happens though

Have you seen sports headlines over the past 10 years?

ESPN is a big propenent of it which is why I stopped going to their website long ago and don't watch their channel for news...

Or it sounds like either Gordon wants to play and the Doctor's are holding him back still or Monty doesn't know and he doesn't want to deal with these questions everyday.

But I didn't see or get the impression that he was calling him a bitch.

Lol, Eric Gordon can't have too many fans in that city. First it was "my heart is in Phoenix", now his own coach is questioning his injury.

Pack, it was clear that Monty was saying that the doctor said the knee should be fine but Eric Gordon is saying he feels too much pain to play.

He was beating around the bush until he dropped this:

"I've checked with Doc," Williams said, "but for him to explain to me what's going on with his body and then have Eric feel a certain way doesn't matter. You know what I'm saying? If Doc says one thing and the guy is feeling another, then you have to . . . what am I supposed to say?

"I'm sure it's got to be medical. A guy just can't not play. It's got to be medical. At this point of the year, everybody is excited to play. I'm sure it's medical."

Which is why to a certain degree I was upset the Lakers couldn't keep Ramon, or Ramon didn't want to stay, whatever the case was. For years, Lakers knew Fisher defensively against these top guards were problem mainly because of his speed, and for Ramon to leave, and to go BACK to another point guard who's older than the one we got rid of last year and is also a defensive liability is head scratching. Granted I know it's Nash, and the big name, and his PG skills, but once he goes to the bench, Steve Blake who's not that great either is out there. I expect in time defensively the Lakers'll get it down as far as rotation off a dribble drives and kick outs, but offensively, he looked really confused out there, it's going to be a struggle for him without the ball in his hand in this offense...

Especially how often Kobe passes when he puts his head down.
