    Re: 2014 Draft Class

I'm really sorry I'm so late guys. But I love what coach K had to say about benching Parker.

Well, it seems that head coach Mike Krzyzewski was trying to drive a point home to Jabari Parker. As good as he is offensively, Parker’s been lackadaisical defensively. Part of the reason he got dunked on by Pat Connuaghton late in the game was that he was late on a rotation, trying to block a shot instead of take a charge.

“For any kid who is not playing well, you should try to find a kid that is playing well,” Coach K said after the game, and he does have a point. If Parker isn’t going to bring anything on the defensive end of the floor and he’s struggling shooting the ball, what value does he have on the court?
A lot of coaches should look at this method of driving a point home with star players. It's some thing Pop would do to Manu, Tony or Duncan.

That's part of the reason mock drafts don't mean **** right now, we have no idea who will end up where.
      I completely disagree.

I think he goes #1 no matter what team has the selection. You can make roster adjustments after bringing him in. You don't pass on a guy like that.

This league is all about getting the best and biggest big men. Especially when having low post big is such a rare thing now a days.

Damn, you're really sold on him. At this point I feel like none of the top prospects are separating themselves too much in terms of how they project on the next level.

I agree, but it's so tough to try and build your team around one because teams don't really run their offense through post players anymore. Not saying a team couldn't. But I would understand a team that already has a solid big man taking a wing player instead.

Outside of potential, Embiid has shown nothing that he is a once in a decade prospect. He has a great base to improve upon, but still has a LONG way to go. His ceiling might be as high, if not higher than everyone else's, but his floor is just as low if he doesn't improve a lot/live up to his potential. I don't think any of them have separated themselves to be a "clear" #1 pick yet.
Looking at his stats, I'm actually surprised he is only shooting 65% from the free throw line. It seems like to me he has an excellent release on those and I thought he was a 75% or so shooter.

No I agree with you. But that's why I said "hype".

I agree with how the top 3 or so prospects are not quite separating themselves, but I think the rule "bigs rise in the draft" applies here. If Embiid avoids injury and continues to show improvement, I will expect to hear his name number one in June.

Not a big NBA draft guy but I see Poythress being a huge steal. Reminds me of Jimmy Butler. What's happened to Wayne Seldon? I was extremely high on him before the season started.

Agreed with that. There is the concept of prospects being broken into tiers.

If the first tier is Wiggins, Parker, Embiid, you take the big man 10 times out of 10.

What really stands out to me is his court vision. That's one of those skills only true high level big men have. He has it and he's still such a green prospect... shows his intelligence.

Also, the more I look into it, im not sold on Randle being on these guys level. Those three are potential franchise guys, when was the last time an undersized 4 was a top two player on a championship team? Think hell be good, but think he isn't on the same level as those 3.

Not sold that Embiid is a franchise guy, not one bit. But it seems like Randle, Parker, Wiggins, Embiid etc. are all polarizing.

Eh, Randle isn't a fatass lazyass so I don't see the comparison. They have differing skill sets as well.

Hakeem was taken before Jordan, Daughtery before Bias, Yao before Jay Williams, Bogut before Deron Williams & CP3, Oden before Durant...

Usually the top big man will go before the top G/F. There are exceptions, like LeBron before Milicic, Iverson before Camby...etc. Sometimes it works out sometimes it doesn't.
