    Re: 2014 Draft Discussion

Cleveland only missed the playoffs by a few games, and everyone knows they're desperately trying to get back into the playoffs... is there any chance they trade the #1 pick, Thompson, and Varejao's expiring contract for Love or something crazy like that?

Probably just me wishing for chaos, but it would be a really good offer. Minnesota would basically have Rubio, Martin, Wiggins, Thompson, Pekovic, with Dieng, Brewer, maybe James Young off the bench.

I will say having 4 number 1 picks in the past 10 years or whatever is ridiculous. That shouldn't be allowed hahahaha

I would always take the best player instead of need. I think Wiggins is the best player so I'd take him.

The only position you can't double book is point guard when it comes to drafting IMO

You can double up on any other position for the most part

How so? Dion has his faults( mental lapses, FT shooting, and finishing around the rim), but he can get to the rim, has a solid mid range game, improved his 3PT%, can create offense, and is good defensively. Its a matter of Kyrie/Dion being able to play off each other instead of "my turn, your turn" offense.

I think I would agree there. I hope most Cleveland fans don't think they're set with Waiters though. If you can upgrade you do it.

And they got 3 #1 picks in the last 4 years. That's crazy. I really hope they do hit on this pick.

The probability of Cleveland winning 3 years in a row is .237% with their average probability per year of .1334.

You have to use a binomial distribution. If you've taken a stats class in college you'll know all about this lol.

You just said it yourself then. If Dion and Kyrie can't play together, one of them has to go. And it isn't Kyrie.

ive taken multiple calculus and stats classes, and ofc there is google..

the odds 3 independent events of a 22%, 15%, and 1.5% chance event happening is 6/10000

the events are all independent of eachother you cant avg their probability

Which is why a new coach and GM was necessary. The Kyrie/Dion stuff was overblown I think. I watched every single game and there was nothing to indicate they didnt like each other and they were often seen on camera talking like friends on the bench.

Like I said in the NBA off topic thread, I kinda feel bad about this. Dont get me wrong, Im really excited, but it feels dirty. Besides, no matter how good the cavs get I know yall wont let Cavs fans forget about this lol

I guess all of the karma built up from 40 years without a championship for Cleveland is being spent on the lottery haha

Kyrie and Waiters have horrible chemistry IMO. That's the biggest issue. I would part with Waiters now while his stock is still decent or move him to 6th man where he belongs at this point in his career. I wouldn't call Waiters "good" defensively either. Is he seriously a good defensive player?

Yeah, I like Dion as a player, but they can't work together, both want the ball in their hands, so one has to go, and it ain't gonna be Kyrie if they want LeBron back.

Agreed, but unless we can get an upgrade over Dion, you dont draft a SG, especially when there are needs at SF and C. On Kyrie/Dion, they showed glimpses of being able to play off each other, just need to be more consistent.
