    Re: 2014 Draft Discussion

smart makes perfect sense if they want a franchise PG, which burke most definately isnt while smart has the potential to be.

as far as that lineup goes, kanter burcs and hayward are all FA

and jazzman can correct me if im wrong, but that team really took off when favors moved to the 5 i think.

they really need a SF imo but a combo guard is right up there , atlesat the way i see it

Imma just say this, if you have a top ~8 pick do NOT draft Embiid. Navicular bone fractures are the kind guys don't recover from. This bone allows jumping and moving around, so it has to be in perfect health to play in the NBA. There's too much talent in this draft to put your franchise's hopes on him recovering. Even if he does recover in the short term, it's the type of injury that lingers...especially for a 7 foot NBA player.

I was high on Embiid before, but this is rough.

        well here we go

Steve Kyler @stevekylerNBA Follow Hearing Lakers and 76ers have been talking about dealing involving the #7 heading to Philly. Unclear what comes back to LA

More Embiid fallout. Lakers could move Nash and #7 to Philly for MCW and T Young. 76ers would take Exum at #3.

3,7,10 in the draft? That'd be interesting to follow.

Seems like a fair deal, ish, although I'm not sure why PHI is doing it.

Burks is signed through next season, as is Kanter. Then they become RFAs. Hayward is restricted. I doubt they're going anywhere unless there is a trade. I suppose I'm much higher on Burke and not so high on Smart. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that you called Burke a bum after one season in the league after hammering another user when he called Olynyk and Sullinger garbage...

                Re: 2014 Draft Discussion

I would still like to see Utah grab Vonleh or Randle.. They started Favors at center the majority of the season with Kanter on the bench.

Worst case scenario, Randle/Vonleh plays a 6th man role for a couple seasons while Utah can decide which big they want to keep. Best case scenario their pick has an immediate impact and they leave Kanter as first big off the bench.

I think it would be much easier to add wing players through trade/free agency..

If Exum is still available though I highly doubt they pass on him. I like him for Utah more than I like Smart.. But I also don't see Smart becoming a franchise point guard any time soon. I think he'll end becoming more of what guys like Ellis, Mayo, and what Wagner was.. He could become better than all of them, but I think he'll end up being pushed toward a shooting guard type player.

Could mcw be our next franchise player here in la? Idk but hes an allstar talent, and barring a harrison barnes like meltdown, he is going to be solid for us for years to come if the deal goes through.

Because they start Marvin Williams at power forward, by far their worst position.

i actually like the mcw move for LA, as for philly that then gives them a potential to move 2+ picks for wiggins, or to use 3,7,10 to get a new team of something like nash, exum, wrote, young, noel and bring mcbuckets and gordon/randle or something off the bench

ive been of the beliefe MCW is a franchise, all-star PG prior to his draft and i thought orlando was dumb to pass on him, oladipo is nice but PG/playmaker is the most important position

I really don't think Philly is dumb enough to trade him, even after the Embiid injury makes their 3rd pick a little less valuable. Just can't see them trading the one bright spot their team has for what would likely be a marginal upgrade at #7.

I agree, unless they really feel Exum is better than him and plan to take him at 3.

Yeah im not exactly holding my breath here. But it is a solid deal on both ends, especially cuz i think philly has been tryna get rid of young anyway.

                                2014 Draft Discussion

Per Mark Medina of the LA Daily News

The Lakers would consider selecting Embiid should he become available, according to a person familiar with the Lakers’ thinking. But such an idea would hinge on Embiid’s recovery.

The Lakers are mindful there would be risk in selecting Embiid considering his recent back injury and his current foot fracture. But they are also aware of Embiid’s upside with various draft experts likening him to Hall of Famer center Hakeem Olajuwon. It is unclear what information in Embiid’s medical report and progress the Lakers would need to see that would make them feel comfortable picking Embiid assuming he stays undrafted before the seventh pick.
