Anyway, don't know who this dude we got is so I'm not about to hype him up as if I know he can contribute when I've never seen him play or heard of him.

It's funny how after that trade last year, while everyone was "OMG the Nets don't have any Draft Picks and spent all that money!!!!" I said that The Russian can easily buy his way back into the Draft and people basically tossed that to the side. One year later...he buys not 1 but 2 draft picks in this year's Draft. It's still TBD to know if either of them will contribute but my point is basically...STFU Armchair GMs.

And that trade now is basically KG/Pierce for James Young.
I hear you but at the same time, getting a pick in the 40's not all that. How many more years do the Nets not have draft picks? I am not aware of the 2nd draft pick they bought either?

Because 20 points per game would be something to get upset about?.. I hope you eat the biggest plate of crow for this man. He has load of offensive talent.

Highest shooting efficient in the draft, ranked 1st in shot off the dribble, first spotting up, and first shooting off screens. He scores in the post, he scores with the ball, without the ball.. Pretty much mastered the "Dirk" which is unblockable.

His combine results compare to guys like Melo and Klay Thompson, yet he's "unatheltic"...

If there are questions in his game shooting definitely isn't one of them. He'll instantly be one of the better shooters in the league.. And unlike Mike and Korver he also scores posting up, shoots like 90% from the line as well.

Idk if it's the right move or not for them, but if he's the best available I think you take him even if it does mean him coming off the bench. He'll end up being a great sixth man, probably versatile enough to play 3 and 4.. Korver has been great coming off the bench for teams, Mike Miller and Ryan Anderson have won 6th man of the year awards coming off the bench. He'll be a huge asset wherever he goes starter or not.

McDermott only averaged 4 three point attempts per game during his career. I think because he is a great shooter and because his deep 3's are usually what made his high-light reels, that people have a belief that it's all he does. That he's basically playing the same role Kyle Korver currently has. His 2pt attempts are more than double his 3pt attempts on his career, and this last year he really showed his versatility with a pretty dominant post game.

He's ridiculously efficient: career 55% shooter (60% his sophomore year), 46% from three (twice averaging 49%), had a PER of 32.8, TS% of 64, eFG% of 60 - career average 30, 65%, 61%.. His offensive rating is a ridiculous 127.4 and 123.3 on his career. And most players who stick around for four years it's because they need to, they aren't NBA ready at a younger age. Doug has been putting up gaudy numbers like this since he was a sophomore, and his basketball IQ very high.

I know athleticism seems to be his biggest downfall right now, but I think he's more athletic than people believe.. I think he'll be similar athletically to what Mike Miller was, which should definitely be enough to keep him from being a defensive liability, or incapable of being anything other than a spot up shooter.. He should be more athletic than guys like Hedo, or Dunleavy who have had long successful careers..

For comparisons sake at the combine, his lane agility time was 11.10 which is equal to TJ Warren, faster than Ennis, Early, Hairston, Hood.. His shuttle run was 3.15 equal to Jordan McRae, comparably to Hood at 3.14, Randle 3.14, Napier 3.13... His quarter sprint was 3.29, comparable to Smart at 3.26, Nick Johnson, Stauskas, Gordon all at 3.27, faster than Ennis, Hairston, Hood.. His max vertical was 36.5, higher than Ennis, Warren, Exum, Smart, Hood, Randle.. So while he is white, he definitely does not lack quickness and agility in comparison to a large chunk of the other top prospects.. Though he's not the athlete a lot of them are, and never will be, he's not terrible in that aspect the way he's made out to be.

        * ( his agility was faster, sprint slightly slower, and vertical 3 inches higher than Melo) *

Like I said, I don't necessarily think he's what y'all need but I do believe he will be a great addition to whoever lands him. I think his floor is a Korver type player or if he's better as an inside-out guy a Ryan Anderson.. I think he will be better than that though, I think more like a mix between what Miller was and Keith Van Horn... I think his IQ would allow him to be what Hedo was to Orlando if he were able to land a role like that, and I believe his ceiling could be something more like Peja - Wally Szczerbiak mixture.

Really wish he would fall to Chicago, even though some Bulls fans do not want that.. Their biggest weakness without Rose was someone who could score, and their biggest weakness with Rose healthy is someone who can consistently play off him and hit shots.. He can fill both of those, and would thrive coming off of screens the way they had Korver and Dunleavy play. And if anyone can help him overcome what might be his biggest weakness in defense it would be Thibs.

My previous posts about Doug, I've wanted him to land in Chicago for awhile now. If Rose is healthy that's instantly my number one team to keep an eye on. Should be an improved and fun to watch offense, especially if they land Melo.

Never said it was all that. Even said it's TBD if they'll even contribute but folks were acting as if once you trade your picks, you can't acquire any.

And to answer your question: Before tonight this would've been the only year where we wouldn't have any draft picks at all. We've got 1st rd picks next year and in 2017(and those two picks cannot be traded under the league's Stepien Rule)and have 4 2nd round picks between this year and 2020. Six 2nd round picks if you include the ones we bought tonight.

I know man, your tone came off as such though. No big deal. As long as they have 1st round picks after this core goes away that's good. That core just needs to be blown up but that's a discussion for another thread..

My bad about how I came off in that post. Wasn't directed towards you BTW.

You know how I feel about the Armchair GMs and the Armchair Coaches though, lol.

EDIT: They actually had 3 2nd round picks tonight: Brown, Thames and Cory Jefferson.

Seeing Spencer Dinwiddie going to the Pistons made me happy. Imo we got a steal. Stan Van knows what's up

Although he blew out his knee I'll still think he'll be a good player nonetheless

Watching the draft coverage...I get what everyone says about Bill Simmons. He seemed mad also when talking about the "international guys" instead of USA players.

I don't think he was legitimately butt hurt about that but if he was then someone needs to remind him that a Canadian invented basketball

I'm really loving Marcus Smart so far. After he was drafted, I looked him up and watched the press conferences on YT and he seems like a good guy, not to mention a great player. If him and Rondo can work on the same page, that will be a force to be reckoned with.

I also really like the James Young pick. I've always liked James Young. I would have much rather had Gary Harris because his defense, but I think James Young has sixth man of the year potential in him. I think he'll be an instant offense guy for us. And with the selection of him and Smart, I think Bradley is a goner, with no doubt in my mind.

Next step for the Celtics is to move Jeff Green. I hope we could somehow work out a sign-and-trade with the Pistons for Monroe with Green in the mix. If we could land Monroe I think we could see playoffs this year, and maybe even a short run considering the state of the East.
