His pick and roll defense also leaves a lot to be desired. Apparently alot of you missed the Baylor game where he faced NBA level athleticism in the front court and was made pretty much useless.

I get it being a "cap move", but get someone who is going to be able to create their own shot at the next level off the dribble. How many times are we going to run this experiment into the ground? Rose needs more than guys that can run off screens. If we don't get Melo, this move is even worse than it already is.

If they didn't want the additional pick, trade for futures or something.
    THIS.

I distinctly remember the Baylor game, and he was ABYSMAL.

They need Melo in the worst way possible. If this dude comes off the bench for about 12 minutes a night and gives them some scoring punch on top of what the starting 5 can do, then I guess I can back off a little.

But he's going to piss off Thibs like there's no tomorrow with his "defense".

In terms of overall drafts I love Boston's draft class. A trade for Rondo and they are a very good young team. They are the only team that can take Hayward away from us and it make sense

I think Green is gone also somehow someway.

McDermott was actually probably the best prospect in the entire draft when facing NBA length. Pretty much everybody in the draft sucked when matched up against NBA athletes EXCEPT for McDermott.

McDermott is one of the best team defenders in the draft, to go along with very underrated athleticism. If you're gonna ask him to guard LeBron, sure he's gonna get toasted. But it's not like he's going to be asked to guard the other team's best wing, and if there's anyone that can maximize his defensive potential, it's Thibs. At the risk of getting into the same type of BS, he's a very smart defender who is always in the right spot to make a play.

Draymond Green was/is very skilled with a high bball IQ. He could shoot a little at MSU to make you respect him and bang down low. Young can't shoot and his post game leaves a lot to be desired. A lot of those things could have been said about UD and he turned himself into quite a pro. One that could knock down that elbow jumper in his sleep.

He is a good pick up for Chicago. He screams Thibs honestly. And that move alone should have Melo salivating at the possibility of playing in Chicago. He wants his minutes down then Doug can provide that.

I'll take that all day instead of Kirk Hinrich clanking jumpers for 30 minutes a night or Jimmy building houses for 40+ minutes. Outside of Marquise Teague, GarPax have drafted well for this team and don't miss often. I'll sit back and wait to see how this goes before I flip out like it's the end of the world.
Agreed man.. Doug isn't going to be depended on to carry a big burden.. he's essentially going to be Dunleavy. Did you see how many open looks Dunleavy got last year??? Without Derrick Rose on the floor?? Doug is going to have plenty of chances to score without the defense geared to stop him.

Not saying Doug is going to show out but the opportunity is there for the taking. I mean again, Dunleavy was wide open so damn much it was ridiculous.

Not to mention using block and steal % to say he won't be able to play defense is so DUMB. Randle didn't have many steals either at Kentucky. Guess that means he has no chance to be a decent player in the NBA.

I wouldn't say no hype, I think he's always been looked at as a top 15 draft pick. At least coming in to the college season

No, not really. It was in reference to his athleticism, which those two metrics are often used to see how their athleticism will translate to actual game productivity depending on position. Which is what the conversation was about.

You can use the number in conjunction with assessing the physical tools a player possesses. Randle and McDermott are no comparison. Randle is grown man strong in the post, Doug, not so much.
