and IMO Portlands biggest weakness is defense...even if they aren't hitting shots they can produce enough points to compete... Just need stops
Portland doesn't stack up statistically on the defensive side but they do have pretty good individual defenders. Lopez, Batum, Matthews and Lillard can all lock down when they put the effort in, especially Batum. So while yes they do need to improve their team defense at least they have the personnel to do so.

Going to be tough sledding if you try to win with that style of offense in the playoffs. Defensively I'd hope and expect they'd turn it up once it counts, hard to change your entire offensive philosophy once the playoffs arrive though.

And I'm getting closer and closer to being so disgusted by these NBA players acting out everything to the point I'll stop watching.

The refs can be dreadful at times but it doesn't help when these athletes are doing this crap.

And the stars are the worst.

What made that flop even more pathetic was that after Durant got the whistle he tries to sell it even more but went way over the top. Doesn't show it in the gif, but he walked down the court grabbing his knee then decided to fall on the ground and roll around for a minute.

We'll never know but I hope he really did tweak something in his knee otherwise that was straight embarrassing and it's sad we have that stuff going on in the NBA. Just play the damn game. It's one thing to flop, but it's another thing to purposely delay the game just to sell the flop after you already got the whistle and we're waiting for you to shoot your damn FT's.

Yeah it's pathetic by these players to continue to flop and act like they're getting hit, but until the officiating improves, it's to players' advantage to get calls against the other team. I don't blame them for exploiting this. The league office needs to fine the hell out of these players.

At this point, I blame the officiating more than the player. How can you not tell as a trained professional that these guys are flopping like that? I'm almost certain they get extensive training, they look at game tape daily and know which players have a tendency to flop. After all of that evidence, you still get duped into this bull****?

I understand there are plays where it's difficult to tell but these players aren't that great of actors. The regular dynamics of the game of basketball don't generally cause your head to flail back like that.

Mike Conley is so good. Has such a well rounded game. Hope Memphis can surround him and Gasol with some players these coming years.

Watching that makes me slightly not want to watch tonights game. Cause Raptors going up against the Heat, and the Heat also do this quite abit, and even when they don't, refs still call things in their favor.

I still remember the horrible call from last season. Lebron dives for a ball(to save it from going out) and the ref call a foul on the Raptors for pushing him.....(nobody even touched him,he flat out just dove to save the ball. He wasn't trying to draw a foul, refs just gave it to them)

Maybe not suspensions right away. But make it like a technical or something. So if someone tries to flop and gets caught during a game gets a technical, and the other team gets free throw. Repeat offenders then start getting suspended(so if someone gets caught 2 times,it's 1 game suspension,3rd time is 2 game suspension and so on)

nobody gets caught flopping during the game... refs fall for it. i cant even count the # of times ive watched guys make themselves fall without being touched and its a foul..happens way to often...but to bad the NBA wont get new refs or do **** about it because penalizing stars isnt how you make money

Agreed 100%. Players gotta do what they gotta do to win games. If anything its the officiating that needs work, because they allow this stuff to go unpunished. Then they wanna get mad when they face criticism on bull**** calls that are obviously bad. NBA officials irritate me the most, because its obvious that they favor superstars and will make obvious bad calls(even when they use half a quarter to review the call), but act like the the notion that showing favoritism in foul calling is dumb and act like they never do it, when its obvious they do. END RANT!!!

It's easy to look at a gif, look at the replay while watching and say "how does a referee miss that?"

These guys are pro athletes man...I've been fortunate enough to sit court side quite a bit and these guys are lighting fast...it's crazy...I've seen LeBron up close go through the lane repeatedly and get slapped hard enough that it's audible to everyone and not get the call...now if he bully's his way that next possession, or sales the contact the next time he gets hit...it's a travesty.

Instances where Durant, other players toss their head back...yes, simple physics should tell you that's acting...and it's inexcusable that they call that mess...but the bang bang plays that happen in the NBA are about as tough to officiate as it gets...

Refs don't have the luxury to be suspicious about players flopping. All they can do is call what they see. Like 24th said they're lightning fast. It can only be done afterwards.

Imagine if refs started calling flops. It would be a nightmare and there would be so many wrong calls. I bet the refs see the flops sometimes but they've been told to ignore them.
