I'm glad that PG and Butler didn't get suspended. I know the NBA was rigid about it before, but that doesn't mean they should continue to be that way. It should be case by case. What PG and Butler did does not deserve a suspension.

Welp....The Raptors need to come out in Game 7 with the kind of intensity they showed late in the 3rd and throughout most of the 4th. Pressure is squarely on the Raptors now. They NEED to have a fast start on Sunday and keep the foot on the pedal or Brooklyn will take them down.
Interesting to note that every time Deron Williams scores 20+ points the Nets have won. He's clearly the main factor in this series so the Raps need to lock him down and play some solid defense next game.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: 2014 Eastern Conference Playoffs -1st Round Discussion Thread
Look, the intent of the rule is to prevent players from coming off the bench and getting involved in the fight and potentially further progressing it. It isn't or at least shouldn't be to prevent players from simply standing up and taking a few footsteps. The intent of speed limits is to prevent people from going 30mph over the limit which is dangerous. It isn't there to ticket everyone on the road for going barely over it.
Does that make more sense? I know you're a smart man king. I'm only comparing the common sense factor. Maybe I shouldn't have compared it to that but that was the quickest thing that came to my mind.
Like I said I understand players have been suspended for the same thing before and we all threw a fit then. Now we're going to throw a fit for the league doing the right thing because they're not consistent? How about throwing a fit over the rule? The wording of it needs changed. Either that or there needs to be different levels of punishments. Having the power to suspend someone for an entire game for stepping 3 feet onto the court is absolutely absurd.
Anyway, I can't wait to see how nuts Canada is for this game 7. That place is going to be rocking. Back to back game 7s for the Nets. Let's see if they have better luck this year.Comment

I just don't see the raptors losing game 7 in the ACC. It's been loud this series but it's gonna be even louder come Sunday.
Hope the homerism in me doesn't let me down.
Also hope this isn't an early start game.Comment

If we're going to take the rule literally, then the entire Hawks bench should have been suspended as well since they all entered the court @0:43.

Last year, the Nets didn't have any heart and were mentally weak and it showed in Game 7 against the Bulls. Got no more excuses at this point so it's put up or shut up time especially considering we've got guys who've been in these situations before.#RespectTheCultureComment

Yes. The wording of the rule hasn't been changed, so be consistent with the way you enforce it. If you want to (and should) go look at it and change it in the offseason then good. But as the rule is currently stated and been enforced they did the wrong thing here. They cost Phoenix probably their best chance win a championship with that rule and now we're going to randomly decide not to enforce it the way they've been doing? That's a problem.

Re: 2014 Eastern Conference Playoffs -1st Round Discussion Thread
Raptors-Nets Game 7! Didn't want it to come to this but guess it has to now. Wasn't expecting Raptors to win this game really, but didn't think it'd be this bad of a loss considering how close things have ended up all series long. Also...I get fans chant USA to support the american team over canadian one...but both teams have same amount of americans on it, so doesn't really make much sense lol.
Raptors need to give it everything they have in game 7. Back completely against the wall now so lets see how this Raptors team does in that scenario. Either way, with series going to game 7, whoever faces Miami is gonna be done quickly, especially since semi finals probably end up happening on Tuesday or something.
And...I didn't watch a great deal of the game, but seeing the end with Raptors having almost twice as many fouls as the Nets is obviously crazy(especially a day after Kidd called out the refs) but for those who did see it, was it cause of bad calls or were Nets really that good at staying out of foul trouble/Raptors real bad at staying out of foul trouble? I know it's absolutely not why Raptors lost(they lost cause of horrible shooting/bad 1st half defense), I just want to get some extra info on stuff I didn't see.Last edited by Majingir; 05-02-2014, 09:21 PM.Comment

EDIT:
Found this...
“During an altercation, all players not participating in the game must remain in the immediate vicinity of their bench. Violators will be suspended, without pay, for a minimum of one game and fined up to $50,000.”Last edited by TUSS11; 05-02-2014, 09:13 PM.Comment

Makes sense. Can you link to the full rule? All I saw was the "leaving the bench vicinity" part.

Re: 2014 Eastern Conference Playoffs -1st Round Discussion Thread
Is it 3 feet? 5 feet? 10 feet? When the Suns players were suspended they were like 20 feet from their bench.
Funny thing about all this is that if it was Butler and say Donald Sloan instead of PG this wouldn't even be a story.Last edited by z Revis; 05-02-2014, 10:14 PM.Indianapolis Colts
