Most of those guys left when the team was respectable with the exception of Carter. So don't throw that around. As for the mocked/degraded, that might be a little strong language but let's put it this way, Majingir makes a great point about how Toronto is a major market but gets treated in the NBA as if it it's Milwaukee or Sacramento. The dissonance is pretty clear. Also, like he said people are tired of the "VC Days were the only good days" stuff so we're a bit over protective and over zealous of this group right now.

Probably by the end of tonight.

I agree, they seem to have something good brewing down there and it'll be much more pleasing to the eye to see them as the Hornets (as they should've been all this time)

I've said it lots of times. I don't blame VC at all for leaving. He didn't leave cause he hated the roster,or the franchise or the city. He left because the Raptors GM along with one of the other people higher up were idiots. They flat out ignored VC and didn't think he deserved any sort of respect from the higher ups in the organization because no player should have any say over anything.

McGrady even admitted it was basically a mistake of him leaving Toronto(and Kobe said it himself too that VC-McGrady Raptors prob would've been championship contenders had both stayed together). Bosh left ONLY because of Lebron/Wade. He had no problem with the team, management or anything, he just left because Lebron-Wade were talking since olympics(and probably decided by all star break) what to do with their future.

I have tickets to the game tonight, not sure I even want to go...doubt it will be even remotely competitive with Big Al out..

I'm glad this became the "How come nobody talks about Toronto like they do Miami/NY/LA/Chi" thread lol

My last thing about it: Stop worrying about what people think, especially Americans, think about the Raptors. You want people to respect you, then win and win consistently. Not have one year and then fall back into mediocrity, but winning consistently.

I really don't think many intentionally disrespect y'all though. This league is 100% about who's winning and what you are doing "right now".. Clippers are a huge market team now and they were the laughing stock of the league for years and years.

SAC has had it's up and downs as a respectable and also a disrespected team. It all comes with winning. If you don't wanna be mentioned in the same context as the Bucks, win more games than the Bucks..

I just genuinely think it has nothing to do with market size, or the fact that you're all the way in Toronto, or anything in relation to that.. It's about who's winning ball games. That's all that matters in this league.

Tbh, Salmons could have some value as an expiring (team option). Some value, as in, marginal value at the draft. But as a player, no, he has no value.

My thoughts on the respect stuff:

What have we done to deserve respect? We've been **** for years and years now, dating back to even during the Bosh era. We've been incompetent and lost a lot of games and we've had one good season. That doesn't get you respect. If we want respect, we'll get it when we stop being known as a ****ty team and we start winning consistently. Until then, stop with the whole "we want respect" gig because we don't deserve it yet.

I'm watching some of the NBA on TNT clips about Raptors-Nets game. Besides the funny part of Barkley messing up Valanciunas name like always, Shaq called D-Will.....De-Ron Williams lol.

Funnier considering that Barkley played on teams with guys like Gminski,Nimphius and Iavaroni and he struggles so badly with Valanciunas.

Just call him JV or something.

De-Ron Williams is still so funny considering it came out of Shaq.

I've heard lots of people that pronounce his name as De-Ron. I think it just has to do with the way his name is spelt. The first time I saw his name that's how I read it.
