Re: 2014 Eastern Conference Playoffs -1st Round Discussion Thread
It's not over. Keep playing hard and finish this.
If we win, this is a huge statement. This team has played hard every single series. We've taken a ton of abuse and we've had some rough patches but we've played great.
I'm really proud of this team."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

What a wonderful game. The Raptors came up big defensively when they needed it and I think they stumbled onto something that's going to limit Garnett's effectiveness defensively with the screen and roll.
This was a "growth" game because the Raps looked like they had it all locked up and then nearly blew it. I loved how they kept fighting back and Lowry is the embodiment of it IMO.

Re: 2014 Eastern Conference Playoffs -1st Round Discussion Thread
It all depends on the price he wants. If his best friend Rudy Gay gets a high contract again, you know Lowry is gonna wanna match that. Maybe even go to whatever team Gay goes to(since they're insanely close best friends,Lowry even godfather for Rudys kid). That's main reason I wanted Lowry gone the second Gay was dealt, but now I really hope Lowry does stay.
And that 3rd quarter.....worst quarter I've ever seen Raptors play ever. And that includes the days where I can't even name a Raptors player outside of Chris Bosh and Jose Calderon because the team was that bad.
Raptors got lucky for sure. Game 3 and 4 definitely didn't end the way either winner wanted. Nets dominating in game 3 and Raptors made is interesting. Game 4 Raptors dominating and then Nets made it interesting.Comment

Re: 2014 Eastern Conference Playoffs -1st Round Discussion Thread
But the main goal for Raptors heading into offseason is to find a backup C to replace Hayes(hoping Raptors deal him, cause he doesn't deserve the salary he's getting) and Salmons(Team option, and 7M isn't worth it). Ross was great in regular season, but playoffs showing how far he still needs to go before becoming a real starting SF in the league.Comment

Re: 2014 Eastern Conference Playoffs -1st Round Discussion Thread
Raptors use Novak to space out the floor(since it's obvious as seen in this series that when Raptors have too many guys in a small area, they panic/turn it over), Hayes is just there to give one of JV or Amir(usually JV) some rest, and Salmons is actually good option off bench for the team(the main backup SF for the team too).

I don't want to watch Salmons on this team ever again. Sign Granger or something, I don't care, just get another scorer off the bench and a cheap, rebounding backup C (and maybe a better 3rd string PG than Buycks/Stone but that'd be a luxury, maybe Hairston in the second?). I really hope we can draft two of them and sign one. Something like Stauskas/Austin in the draft or maybe Hairston. Big offseason coming up.

I agree on the Lowry thing, he's the glue that keeps this team together and I agree that the Raps need a good solid big man that can get the rebounds in the paint. Stauskas would be a dream come true for me.
But that's neither here nor there. It's time to concentrate on the playoffs.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Then you match it. I don't care. People don't get what Lowry means to this team. He was like top 10 in WS/48.
I don't get the whole "Put Novak in and don't run plays for him". So stupid. We really need a new coach. Is Thibs gonna be available? Probably a pie in the sky thing.

No good C options in free agency this offseason. Either Raptors trade for one, or hope a good backup C pops up in the draft.
As for Lowry...12-15M I think would be the price. Some other PGs in past few years have been signing for around 13-14M so Lowry hopefully gets signed for around that. Raptors have around 20M in cap space(since Salmons will be gone and most of Cambys leftover salary isn't guaranteed) so the money is there to resign Lowry.Comment

Shaq: like Chuck said, Father Time is undefeated. Also Lowry has *looks at paper* 10 points, that's not going to be enough
