Regarding the whole respect thing: I don't expect it. Hell, this team wasn't even supposed to go this far. I do like that Barkley has been a supporter of the team in some ways but I completely understand the skepticism surrounding the team. The playoff experience these guys are getting is a great thing and if they can beat the Nets than it'll be a stepping stone to all of them being hungry for more because....well, we all know Miami will beat them. (though I think the Raps will keep every game within single digits)

Yeah I believe it was either Barkley or Ernie that asked him specifically and he say yes he does and went on to explain. I do record the show even though it stops early. Ill try to rewatch and see if that part is still on.Comment

Re: 2014 Eastern Conference Playoffs -1st Round Discussion Thread
Since Ross isn't look upon to be a huge scoring factor most of the time I think ultimately what the Raptors should do is try to find a defensive minded, or dirty work type of small forward to come in as a started next season moving Ross to a 6th/7th man.. Take Salmons and Fields completely out of the rotation or off the team if possible because those two definitely do not need to be vital pieces to a team hoping to reach playoff success.

I don't understand the whole respect thing.. How do the Raptors get any less respect than any other team with a similar resume? I mean we obviously aren't going to treat them like Miami or San Antonio. For the most part they have gotten decent praise on here this season, especially towards Lawry and DeRozan. Nobody has been down talking them or anything like that. They've never been looked upon the Bobcats of recent years, or the Clippers the 20 years prior to drafting Blake. Those teams are the ones that had been disrespected.

Re: 2014 Eastern Conference Playoffs -1st Round Discussion Thread
Here's the best way I can explain the whole "respect" thing from a Raptors fan standpoint. It's our way of having an "us against the world" mentality. We've seen our biggest stars up and leave the team for various reasons (I will say though, that Vince Carter gets more hate than he deserves he at least re-upped) and we don't get much if any media exposure in the US. When the Raptors DO get media exposure it's almost always in a mocking or degrading way so we get the feeling that we're not respected.
I can't say it's always justified but that's how most fans look at things.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

The stars left because they didn't want to keep losing? That doesn't just happen in Toronto it's nearly half the teams.
Y'all have been mocked and degraded on television?

Re: 2014 Eastern Conference Playoffs -1st Round Discussion Thread
Main thing about Raptors is that many people(or at least me) are used to having the crazy amount of media coverage surrounding the Leafs(Leafs basically the Yankees or Lakers of NHL,no matter how they do,spotlight always on them, and they're hated for that), so to see Raptors basically the exact opposite, is a strange feeling even after all these years. I think some people are just tired of hearing people constantly talking about VC days as the one and only time Raptors were relevant. While it's entirely true, just gets annoying having that being the main thing people know about them, yet people in media are able to easily name bench players on other teams from years ago yet not really know much if anything about Raptors.
Back on topic though......When might we find out the game time of the playoff games happening on Wednesday? I wonder how it'd feel for the players not even knowing the start time of their next game.Last edited by Majingir; 04-28-2014, 02:53 PM.Comment
