Honestly, if Payton isn't a bust I could see them being a playoff team this year.

As for directly replying to the "why Frye" part of your question. Until these young guys develop they will all have limited outside shooting ability. It's not horrible, but definitely a little below average. Adding Frye gives them someone who can space the floor and hit outside shots.

Most importantly is Harris is great as a 6th man. He's already shown he's very capable of putting up 6th man of the year type numbers coming off the bench, and he plays PF/SF, so he's excellent to come in and fill either spot (assuming they don't try starting him at SF).

Also if they decide they don't want Harris as a 6th man he's probably a pretty good trade piece by now. I couldn't really imagine them giving him up while he's so young and productive but adding Frye at least gives them a reliable option if they did decide to do so.

My thoughts as well. Not sure who though, but some possibilities out there.

I guess, but they have a very miniscule chane of making it this year, their young players just aren't ready yet. Heat, Pacers, Bulls, Raptors, Wizards, Cavs, Hawks, Nets, Hornets. That's already 9 teams who will easily be better. Long term this is just going to limit their cap room.

Completely reaching with this. But just curious.

If Bosh left for Houston could anyone see LeBron sticking around? (Not with Melo). But say the extra cap landed them Gasol, Thomas, Ariza/Deng/Marion, or something like that. Maybe they sign Jordan Hill or someone who's an actual center. Anybody see enough pieces they could bring in to convince him to stay?

Yeah I get what you're saying. It'll be interesting to see how Dipo, Harris, and Vucevic develop into this season. With their leading shot takers gone I could see all 3 of them being in the 15-20 ppg range. Could be a pretty fun team to watch, even if playoffs end up being out of the picture.

Yeah, they should at least be a very interesting team to watch.

Maybe Frye's deal is only partially guarenteed for the 3rd and 4th season, in which case most of it would expire by the time they are ready to make a major leap.

Im not to excited about this signing but we needed a shooter bad. It stretches the floor for Vucivic and allows Gordon to play some 3 if need be or just to experiment. I know some say no way Gordon plays 3 but I believe he can lockdown plenty SF on the perimeter.

I can see where they were going with the draft picks so im not so.down on that anymore but I still believe we sold Afflalo for pennies on the dollar.

I just think we overpaid like we did with Ben Gordon. Plus all 4 years are guaranteed with no player or team options. But who isn't getting overpaid this off season?

Damn, are you sure? If so I just don't understand why a team would do this. Think about it two years from now, they are going to regret this deal when they don't have enough room to sign an elite player and become an elite team.

Man this is just depressing seeing what's become of Dwyane Wade. Kinda feel bad for the guy.

If the Bulls bring back Luol Deng, I'm going to throw myself in front of a bus.

Just where his career is already. There was a point in time Wade was my favorite player in the league and he was a beast. Dude is 32 and we're in free agency and money is getting handed out left and right, yet there is no interest in him anywhere besides the Heat. I know it's part of the business, but man it's crazy.
