2014 Off-Season Thread
Why is that a negative though? If they say they'll match any offer that means a max as well. Nobody has offered him that however so why is that an issue? So the Suns shouldn't declare how much they want to keep someone? The Rockets said they intended to match on Parsons, didn't stop Dallas from throwing the max at him.

Huh? You mean to quote me? Never said it was negative, I don't think it's negative for Bledsoe to seek what he thinks he's worth either....just like your example of Parsons who didn't like what HOU offeredComment

You said you weren't mad at him exercising his right to look for a better offer. But what right? He's a restricted free agent and they said they'll match any offers. Not like they're stopping him from looking for better offers.

Not following you. He is still a free agent....RFA's can bargain their price just like UFA's can...the Suns ability to match doesn't really factor in there...
We've seen what the market is...Gordon Hayward & Chandler Parsons just picked up max deals....the Suns are just playing their hand...as they should....and at the end of the day, if they can't come to an agreement or no one throws an offer out there, we know what happens...not expecting EB to sign whatever PHX throws at him though..Comment

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
Yeah, still not following you Two Four. If a team wants to throw him a max offer and make it hard for Phoenix to match it by playing with the numbers in each year a bit, they can do that, but they aren't. So I'm not seeing his issue here. Phoenix hasn't even offered him anything yet have they? QOs are pre determined numbers right so it's not a formal offer of what they think he's worth right?

They offered him 4 years 48 million...
The reason your not seeing an issue is that i'm not sure there's one to argue as far as how RFA works...his comments and the reaction to him is what was being discussed..or what I was commenting on at least...Last edited by The 24th Letter; 07-27-2014, 03:30 PM.Comment

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
I don't think you sensed the humor and sarcasm of my post but that's no big deal. But direct correlation you say?
Top 6 Slowest Paced NBA teams - (Defensive efficiency ranking from best to worst)
1. Memphis- (8th)
2. NY Knicks- (24th)
3. Chicago- (2nd)
4. Miami- (11th)
5. Utah- (30th)
6. Brooklyn- (19th)
I don't see a direct correlation in those stats.

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
If you're into that kind of stuff, there's a 0.022 r^2 between pace and defensive efficiency.
In English, that means that a little over 2% of defensive efficiency has to do with pace. Or, pretty much nothing."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
Despite the low r and almost lack of any statistical relationship whatsoever, I think now is as good a time as any to mention that correlation doesn't equal causation. There's a high correlation between ice cream sales and crime rates, but clearly one doesn't cause the other.Check out my Houston Astros Dynasties:

But I'm saying there isn't correlation. The r^2 shows that and intuitively, I don't really buy the assertion either."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment
