Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
I think the refs go against the Heat for drama effects, everyone wants to see the Heat lose and since the Heat are a top 5 team they had to give the other team help so the games would be more dramatic.
But what I mean is with someone like Melo, the Heat would be straight players and would be in less games that are easy for the refs to ruin.Comment

2014 Off-Season Thread
Miami should trade them Bosh and bring back Asik and their first. I wouldn't be supposed to them taking Lin from them if that had to be done to match up the numbers.
Bosh is still a great player, I don't question that at all. But for what Miami minimizes his role to they could replace for half his salary.
I think Miami messed up their first year. They ran 99.99999% of everything through LeBron and Wade. They had no use of a point guard other than spot up shooting. Now they actually let Chalmers bring the ball up the court, drive and kick, work with the P-n-R, etc.. Arroyo and Bibby would have been great pieces for them had they had Chalmers role he's had the past two seasons. Rather than just trying to make them catch and shoot players only.
Now I feel they need a guard who's like Chalmers but a bigger threat.. Right now LeBron, Wade, Bosh they open things up and make it easier for guys like Mario. Which is the whole point of having 3 stars. But I think they really need a guy who can attack and actually be somewhat of a threat to draw help. Someone who can also make things easier for LeBron and co.
I don't want the Melo signing. I want them to target guys like Marion, Deng, Meeks, Gasol, Blake, Lowry, Gortat, Carter, Hill, Hawes, Stuckey, Ariza, Livingston.. Because rather than Melo, they could actually afford a combination or 2 or 3 of those guys.
Like I said Bosh is still a great player. But if they somehow could swing a deal for Asik, they solve their rebounding an rim protection issues.. With that extra cap maybe they get Lowry and Marion. Or Deng and Meeks. Or Gortat and Livingston, Hawes and Carter, Steve Blake and Jordan Hill.. You get what I'm saying anyways.
Also with two picks at the end of the first round (if Houston gives there's up) they open up the chance of getting two players who can fit their role. They can get a wing who drops- Warren, Hood, LaVine, Robinson, Young, Adams, Early... Take a guard like Napier who would fit their system well IMO, or a bigger man like Austin who's a stretch 4/5, or garbage/hustle player like Young, Payne, Harrell..
I think they can lose a little at first by breaking up the big 3. But put themselves in position to be better in the long run. Just my opinion. Though I have no problems with Bosh staying ether. He's the perfect fit for them aside from he can't rebound, and he cants defend anyone physical.

Man if I'm Miami, they better ask for more than just Asik and Lin for Bosh. Houston is almost robbing Miami right there with that deal.#RespectTheCultureComment

With the way Bosh has played, how he has been utilized and what Miami needs, that seems like a fair deal for both teams. I think Miami would consider that for sure.Cubs | Bulls | Dolphins | 'Noles

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
Any way we could get Parsons? Houston trades us Asik, Parsons, Lin's contract... etc, gets Bosh, then signs Melo in FA.
I like Parsons's game a lot. He's a lot like my mans Gordon Hayward, maybe better. I've been high on Parsons ever since I saw him defend Lebron.Fan of:

Plus, doesn't Lin have an escalator in his contract where his salary doubles in the 3rd year or something to that extent because it was a big deal as to why NY let him go initially?#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
I have no idea what any of the contracts are, I was just tossing out thoughts. But Houston might even give up more than that, they seem so "star" hungry.
But ideally for me, Pat convinces 2 or 3 of those free agents to commit. Then, if it's possible, I would even trade Bosh for Asik and a 1st alone. That way you have the space to get the free agents you've talked with.
If they can afford Melo with Bosh there, could it possibly work out where they get a combo of Lowry and Deng or something with Asik in his place?
It's all just hypothetical nonsense. But I think if Bosh was moved for a legit rim protector a rebounder (didn't Asik average like 15 per game that last month Howard sat a few games?) and on top of that add 3 good role players. I think that puts them in better shape than what they are moving forward.
Adding Melo, or any extra scorer, would make them tougher to defend without fixing any of their other issues. Making an alternative move, might slightly lessen their star-power scoring, but it could fix their rebounding, post defense, and land them a point guard that Wade and LeBron can actually benefit from, rather than it being the opposite.
