No, Kobe just really admires MJ. As for swingmen today being bad shooters, you can't really blame the media or the NBA if those people don't practice their fundamentals.

Yes Leon, obviously Kobe admires Jordan considering everything he does is a direct mimic of Jordan, from jumpshot to the way he walks. But Kobe is one of the few people who can knock down an open jumper consistently, yet he has yet to shoot above 45.1% from the field for a season? Why is that? Because hs is so trying to be the next MJ, that he is constantly forcing bad shots and taking teams one-on-one instead of driving and dishing to the open man. I will admit that the talent in the league today has dropped off considerably from the 80's and 90's and it is definitely due to the fact that players do not practice fundamentals enough and can't knock down open jumpers. But it is also because players are so busy trying to make Sportscenter and "Be Like Mike," that they forget that basketball is a team game and try to do it all by themselves.

I wouldn't necessarily call him trying to be the next MJ and more like him trying to test his capabilities. Time will tell how these "Air Apparents" pan out.

There's only one Michael Jordan. The rest should create their own legacies, not do what Jordan DID.

well the NBA likes to hype certain players but we all know there will NEVER be another Jordan!

In terms of actually being Michael Jordan, then no, there will NEVER be another Jordan, but I get the feeling that you mean that there will NEVER be another basketball player as good as Michael Jordan. By saying never, I can conclude that you will NEVER, no matter what another player does, give him the credit he deserves.

Michael Jordan was created by a man and a woman just like everyone else. To think that he's the absolute best NBA player that will ever live is just insane. There's probably couple of guys in the park right now, who've never played in a nba game with the potential to be as good or better than Jordan.

Get over your memories, the game only gets harder from here. A lot less spacing now because of bigger and faster bodies. Do you actually believe evolution is in reverse and players are just forgetting how to shoot the ball. These guys take hundreds to thousands of shots a day in practice, and they probably make 75% of them. Defense is a lot better than it use to be.

I just wish I could teleport Bill Russell in his prime to 2004 and see if he could stop Shaq from dunking on his head using single coverage.

There's a shared difference with all these guys mentioned, including Lebron James. They all were pushed to be the next Jordan at the beginning of their careers. About 8 yrs later, and Kobe's still getting the comparisions, from guys like Doug Collins and Phil Jackson nonetheless.
