    Joe Dumars: Basketball Mind

There is no disputing that Joe Dumars was a great player. Most people also know what a great man he is. Hell, the NBA sportsmanship award is named after him. But, what a tremedous President/GM he has become!

That being said...what do you think was Joe D's best move in building this POTENTIAL Champion:

I gotta go with the Stackhouse, Hamilton trade..No one knew that Ben Wallace would be so dominant in rebounding and shotblocking, and Grant Hill not being the same again.. I think that had alot to do with luck

The Hamilton trade though was big for them, cauze all Jerry did was hog the ball all the time. Hamilton might not be as a good as scorer, but he fits perfectly in their system, he's unselfish, and his mid range game is butta.

I went with the Grant Hill trade, because if we had signed him to a big contract instead, then I think that would have screwed the pistons for years. All those moves are very key though, because without any one of the players on the team I'm not sure they could win it all. They're an actual 'team', just gelled together great.

It's so hard to say because all of those guys are so instrumental. I think Sheed is what they needed to help get them over the hump though. With that, Larry Brown has shown tremendous coaching skills and motivation to these guys, and has helped them stay humble and focused the entire time even through the winning. Can't say the exec of the year award was not WELL deserved.

I'm looking at this from the standpoint of this year. The Pistons were already a very good team without Rasheed Wallace but getting him by trading an old guy and some scrub was a steal. Yes 'sheed came to Detroit with a bad rep but he's really redeemed himself. I think it all boils down to the point that he isn't the main guy but he's a vital cog for the Pistons motor. 'sheed brings offensive balance to Detroit that they didn't have before.

It was a tough decision because I think Larry Brown is just as important if not more so but then again as I said they needed an offensive threat which sheed brings to the club.
