I'm praying that the Lakers turn down the Mavs offer, but think about it. If the Mavs don't give up Dirk, why would the lakers agree to the trade.
They already have Payton for another year at PG, and after all the trouble the Lakers go to keep Kobe I'm sure he will stick around. So thats both guard positions taken care of...no need for Nash and Finley. The 5th pick would be nice, but like everyone else said, there isn't any big names this year. They also wouldn't want to face Shaq come playoff time.
I hope to God that the Nets somehow convince the Lakers to trade them Shaq. They have a very good deal on the table already.
<hr /></blockquote><font class="post">Duece, what I think Cuban should do is sit tight for now. He needs to tell Kupcheck to go shop Shaq and see what he can get for him. To me, the Mavs have the most pieces to offer the Lakers. I'd like to see what other teams could bring to the table. It was being said earlier today the the Lakers said Dirk must be part of the trade, also on the news tonite, it was reported that Dirk will not be traded. Could be posturing.
What I want to know is, why the hell didn't the Mavs get rid of Abdul-Wahad along with Jamison. We took two their bad contracts, they could have taken one of ours."Never trust a big butt and a smile."-Ricky Bell

Because Kobe is no longer a member of the Lakers. He will be wearing a different uniform next season.

You seem pretty sure about Kobe and also Shaun Livingston being a Clipper. I bet neither end up coming true.Comment

Re: Jamison to the Wizards!
great trade by the mavs
they can add another young player
IMO, the Mavs should resign Nash and Daniels - then keep the team as is this season and sign shaq when he becomes a FA after this next season.
There is NO WAY that Dallas is trading Dirk for Shaq. Shaq has 5 years left - tops. Dirk probably has 10 and hasnt even peaked yet. Also, Shaq has one year on his contract. Dallas shouldnt trade anyone for Shaq unless they are sure that he will sign an extension.
Dallas can wait a year and have plenty of money to sign shaq as a FA.Comment
