Many people especially Laker owners and coaches is saying KOBE could be the best ever is because
they are in deep trouble if he doesnt sign. Kobe is a great player but he aint in MJ's league or
ever will be, Kobe has peaked and it will only stay steady and decline from here.

I say that mainly because I'm guessing and the media pressure will be tremendous.
He now has to carry his whole team on his shoulders and this mess ruins hie rep even more.

Kobe hasnt proven himself to be mentally tuff at all he has gotten buy on great coaching, athletics,
and SHAQ. Kobe is now often injured also he aint got enough muscle to go to the rack for 82 games.

Shaq and Kobe nedded each other to win those championships, Jordan needed his team to when Mike
realized that the BULLS were unstoppable!

Shaq won three finals mvp's not KOBE, there was no last second heroics in there three peat years in
the finals because NO ONE can guard Shaq!

Kobe will meet the old Jordan rules which Detroit made famous, and he will blast his teammates like
T-MAC bum self did and call for another trade.

BTW T-Mac is a bum put a zone on him and hes toast.

    <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

BTW, any player will have a hard time against a zone, not just T-Mac.

      Re: Kobe\'s \'Bulls\'?

What Leon put a zone on Reggie Miller, Michael Redd, Kobe, Cassel, Mike Bibby, and many more
players and watch them shoot the lights out. Or at least penetrate and get assist, the bulls held T-Mac to under 10 points in a half with a zone. THE BULLS!

T-mac is a great player im exaggerating alittle, but his my knee hurt lie and trade me crap is
      ridicoulous!

Yea, funny how T-Mac whines when the opposing team zones him up.
He needs to learn how to outplay the zone and not whine about things.

This thread has gone WAY off track.

The point of the thread was that Kobe has his own team now. Now, we get to find out how far he can take them. We get to see if he can be the next absolute superstar guard. Or, we get to see if he's "just" a great player like T-Mac, like Iverson, like my favourite of all time Clyde Drexler.................and other absolute 'elite' players.

As great as they all were / are, MJ was better. At 26 and in his prime, let's see if Kobe can go to that level. Realistically, he's the only one since MJ who 'may' have a shot at it. (Operative word = may)

I don't like Kobe or the Lakers. As a basketball fan though, it's very interesting. Maybe even the Kobe haters can agree on that?

You beat a zone with shooters. Who on that Magic squad made one consistently besides T-Mac? Reggie Miller, Michael Redd, Sam Cassel, and Mike Bibby run off screens to shoot, which makes it easier because they don't necessarily have to handle the rock. FYI, T-Mac did penetrate and dish. And his "I hurt my knee" thing? That's not true, Weisbrod just made that up to put him on the injured list (if you want the story, scroll some pages down and you'll find it in one of KDRE's threads). Yeah, he did whine, you'd probably do the same when your once playoff contending team was dismantled in a span of months and replaced with all but crap.

As for the topic, Kobe's great and has proven that with 3 rings and some amazing stuff. Now, he wants to validate his status with individual achievements and be regarded as one of the greats, namely, Jordan. Will he get there? Maybe, maybe not. Is he better at 25-26 than Jordan was at that age skillwise? Jumpshots, maybe Kobe's better, other than that, I THINK Jordan's better.

Really though, you've got your Kobe fans and MJ fans who'll say this and that. Its an endless arguement that will get you nowhere. The only way we can come to a conclusion on these comparisons is when Kobe or T-Mac or LeBron or whoever future "next-Jordan" is retired. Then, we can see what he has done in his career and if he accomplished more.

Also, its a testament to just how great Jordan was/is when you've got just about every great NBA superstar today being compared to him.

Lastly, I myself am tired of this "next-Jordan" crap. There's only one Jordan, like there was one Magic, one Larry, one Kareem, one Wilt, one Bill, and one etc. I think we can all agree that there will only be one Shaq, one Kobe, one T-Mac, one AI, and countless others. Those past superstars stamped their legacy, let these new ones make their own and not always be compared.
