Like you said, nobody can defend him under the ring unless they foul and that's because he's getting his baskets created for him and he's thrived perfectly and pretty much made a career in that role, yet you want him to add some post moves to his game why exactly? Especially when at most, he won't be getting more than 12-13 touches a game anyway.

And T-Magic, I say that because I don't think DJ is a quick thinker with the ball in his hands(which you need to be if you want an effective post game).

I don't want him to add any post moves, I don't think he needs an effective post game. He can already do all he needs to do. Catch, dribble, smash. That's it.

I'm not comparing him to Dwight, I'm just saying you don't have to have a strong post game to be effective. He isn't going to draw double teams like Dwight, nobody is going to double him. A couple post ups a game and he's good IMO.

Not really suggesting he needs to add post moves. Just a few touches would be great for him, and for the Mav's if they even land him considering they have zero post scoring.

My entire argument is based on him landing in Dallas. He has zero reason to ever get any touches with the Clippers, because Blake is better than him at everything offensively. The Mav's don't have that, they don't have guy who can post, or a guy who can catch the ball 5 feet out face you up and then dunk on your head. Deandre can already do that, it's a great fit for both sides.

      Re: 2015 Offseason Thread

Just have to say as a laker fan that I really hope they get lamarcus Aldridge. I think he will end up with the spurs because if he goes there he will have a changes to win right away but the spurs have been good for so long it is there time to decline for at least a few years soon. If they get him that is not going to happen for a long time. I fell like ever since the lakers didn't get CP3 they have had a lot of bad luck. They have had a lot of injures the last 3 years more then like any team in the league and if they got CP3 then howard I don't think would have left and kobe wouldn't have had to carry the team so much and maybe doesn't get hurt so bad. There is a really good changes that this year could be it for kobe and if they miss the playoffs and he retires that would mean that his last 3 years he didn't even make the playoffs and that his last 4 years he didn't get passed the first round. I really don't want to see him go out like that. I don't know how good they would be with lamarcus Aldridge and the west is tuff but if they where to get him and kobe stays heathly and there draft pick has a good year and randler has a good year they could be much improved team from last year. I now that is a lot of ifs and buts but I really want the lakers to improve this year. If they improve a lot and kobe has a good year and stays heathly then I could see him maybe playing 2 more years. If the lakers suck or he sucks then I think it would be 100% that he retires after the year.

It was a max offer. Which I think is something like 5 years 90 million. I think.

Who is the Mavs current PG?

Not sure what the league's fascination with DeAndre is.

And FWIW...I can't see him leaving the Clippers. Especially to go across the lockeroom to the Lakers. Dallas, maybe.

He has it made on the Clippers. I really don't think he wants to be some focal point of any offense.

Everything he could possibly want. His regular one year qualifying offer is on the table for $4,433,683, the max qualifying offer of 5 years $90 million dollars, plus they can still negotiate another deal that he want like perhaps a four year deal that he could opt out of after three years if he wanted to. From what I've heard he's already postponed meetings with other teams already to decide what he wants to do with the Bulls.

But Dallas has zero post scoring. I don't see a reason to not give him a few touches inside and let him make a drop step, or a quick one dribble face up from 5 feet out. Poor man's Dwight.

His offensive game doesn't have to get any better. Nobody can defend him under the rim unless they foul. A couple post ups a game mixed with his oops and put backs is ideal IMO.

I just don't want to see him try to be something he's not. Possibly bite off more than he can chew.. sorta speak.
I guess he has the upmost confidence in himself, if it's true that he wants a bigger role. At the same time it's hard to see if he's saying this because he may get a bigger and better contract.

Ultimately I think he could possibly do the things you mentioned, just not on a consistent basis. New team possibly, new role, different expectations to go along with that new role.
Failure on the offensive end could change the type of player Deandre is. Might mess with his head, then his game suffers.

All this is nothing but probables though.

By the end of the week, I expect to see that Lopez and Young have re-signed with the Nets.

By the end of the offseason, I expect either Deron or Joe to be gone from the Nets. Preferably Joe because I can't fathom the thought of having my 2 top PGs be Steve Blake and Jarrett Jack.

That has me nervous just typing that out.

Do Lakers fans want Kobe to play after this year or would they rather get his cap space back?

On BET he said he'll see at the end of the season if he wants to come back. So sounds like he's leaving the door open. If the team shows progress, especially with its young players, maybe he wants to sign an extension.

I have low Celtics offseason wants/needs/expectations. Resign Crowder to a long-term deal, maybe bring in a Robin Lopez type at a fair price, and even throw 13-14 per year at Tobias Harris would be fine by me.

All I don't want is them to spend lots of money stupidly. It's a long process becoming relevant again, and them going nuts handing out big contracts to a bunch a second tier free agents would be crippling. But I trust in them enough not to do something so foolish.
