Read that the contract is 3 years/$20 million. Kind of pricey for a backup center, but I'm happy for Aron and sad to see him go.

@davidroy11 @paulpressey25 If he likes situation in Milwaukee, he can opt out and take advantage of $108M salary cap by re-signing.

Bucks owner Marc Lasry, GM John Hammond and Coach Jason Kidd were key participants in meeting with Greg Monroe.

I'd rather the Mavs start Biyombo and have Singh come off the bench than do some stupid trade for ****ing Roy Hibbert.

Still think Roy could be a good player in the right spot. But he's a bitch so who knows.

Why did the Clips not extend Jordan and prevent him from reaching free agency?

Ballmer has the money so luxury tax shouldn't be an issue.

Maybe he just wanted free agency

My issue isn't so much with Hibbert himself but with what the move represents. Yeah maybe we do a S&T to get Hibbert and piece together a decent roster and challenge for one of the last few playoff spots. Great, so we just wasted yet another year on being a mediocre team and once again we have no core of younger players to build around.

At least if we go get someone like Biyombo if Jordan falls through there's a chance we could develop him and we still have money to fill the roster with some other young talents that could develop.

I'll just leave this here for TK comedy purposes. You're all welcome.

In his first postseason public comments regarding his relationship with Derrick Rose, Jimmy Butler said both players want to win and he respects his Bulls' backcourt mate.

"I don't think we have any issues. I think we're fine," Butler told Rolling Stone magazine. "I think we're two basketball players that want to win games. That's where I'll leave it at. I think we just wanna win, bring a championship the city, to the organization. I think that's our job. And I think we're gonna do whatever it takes to make that happen. I have a lot of respect for the guy."

Stories about alleged tension between Rose and Butler have surfaced in the wake of a bizarre ending to the Bulls' season. A passive Rose took just four second-half shots in the Bulls' Game 6 loss to the Cavaliers. Butler took 12.

But the pair combined to go 28-17 when healthy during the regular season and each averaged over 20 points per game in the playoffs. Butler spoke to Rolling Stone before verbally agreeing to a five-year maximum deal with a player option on the final season on Wednesday. Butler, who hasn't responded to interview requests from the Tribune, could make $95 million in the deal.

DeAndre Jordan is entering the final year of a contract in which he was overpaid somewhat significantly. This wasn’t the Clippers fault necessarily, as they chose (wisely) to match an offer sheet from the Warriors on a deal that would require a four-year, $43 million commitment to a big man who had averaged just 7.1 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.8 blocked shots in the year before the new deal went into effect.

L.A., like so many teams are forced to do, was paying for potential.

Jordan realized plenty of it last season under a new head coach in Doc Rivers, who challenged his big man to dominate on the defensive end of the floor from day one, while including him with Chris Paul and Blake Griffin when promoting the cornerstones of the franchise.

With Jordan entering a contract year, the Clippers would love to lock him up with an extension for three additional seasons before he has a chance to increase his value in advance of becoming an unrestricted free agent next summer. But there’s little incentive for Jordan to take it, and Rivers knows that.

Doc Rivers on DeAndre Jordan taking extension vs. waiting for longer deal in summer: “He won’t ever accept an extension. Why would he?”

Doc Rivers on D. Jordan being in contract year: “Everybody, they get what they earn. That’s basically in life and that will happen for D.J.”

Jordan made a leap under Rivers last season, and ended up leading the league in both rebounds per game (13.6) and field goal percentage (67.6), while averaging a career-best 10.4 points per game in 35 minutes per contest.

The minutes increase is perhaps most important, as Rivers (unlike the Clippers previous head coach Vinny Del Negro) trusted Jordan in late game situations.

There’s no reason for Jordan to take the extension when he has the chance to surpass last season’s production, and secure a longer deal in free agency next summer. It’ll be interesting to see if the Clippers are willing to pay him what other teams might when the time comes, and a lot of that may come down to whether or not L.A. can finally advance deep into the postseason with the team’s current roster, which, to some extent, is built around Jordan’s abilities on the defensive end of the floor.
He gambled on himself and he's gonna win. No reason for him to sign up earlier if he knows he can get more as a UFA
