Rose "putting the team on his back offensively" was never going to get them anywhere close to a title anyways.. I don't want to get into that argument again but I'll just leave it at he was never a good enough shooter to consistently hurt you, and not a good enough playmaker to make up for it. He did what every point guard in Thibs system does, took a lot of shots and inefficiently scored a lot of points and turned the ball over.

However, if he and Jimmy could turn into a 1-2 punch duo they could be very dangerous. And Gasol on the block had as good of a year as an offensive post player did last season. What they really need is getting Noah and Jimmy back to where they were 2 years ago defensively, and Jimmy and Rose to be consistent every night offensively. I'm hoping without Thibs that the bench gets used more, because they have the pieces to make their bench a big strength.

I agree with everything except for whats in Bold. I think Rose pre injury was good enough and would got better.I believe it's mental for him now.

They wont be able to compete with a rejuvenated spurs squad or the defending champ warriors, and if billy d works out in okc your talking about them(bulls) trying to beat a team with the 2nd best player in the world, one of the best pgs right now, and a team with a plethora of depth on it. Im sorry its not gonna happen. but if they can play defense like the 2010-2013 bulls did(which consistently finished top 5) and rose can build on what he did this past playoffs, then they have a chance to make it out of the east. Of course I dont favor them for a title because too much has to go right for them, and imo it was this year or never for the bulls. I think they blew there chance personally.
I felt the exact same way. When LeBron hit that game winner in game 4, I felt that pretty much closed the door on this Bulls era ever producing even a Finals appearance.

Well to be fair, they were still 11th in defensive rating and 2nd in effective field goal percentage after being 2nd in both in the previous season and 6th and 4th the year before that. So while they did struggle a bit defensively compared to what we're used to from them, they weren't terrible or anything and considering the circumstances of this season and the new pieces being worked in, can't be too mad at it.

I don't think Rose was "inefficient" prior to the ACL, especially when you consider how the entire offense relied on him scoring the ball and pretty much nobody else. He also had a fairly automatic mid range jumper. Of course I'm just going off my eyes from watching every game and not any stats on that. During that MVP year though and prior, when he pulled up for a jumper inside the arc it seemed like it was always going in.

Anyway if all you have to rely on is Rose then its indeed time to blow it up
A lot of people were calling for Dallas to blow it up in 2010. I'm glad that the Mavs didn't listen. Of course they did pretty much blow it all up except for Dirk after 2011..

Chicago is not that far away from being able to win the east. You never know, if they keep plugging away, maybe they will catch lightning in a bottle one of these Junes?

Also, I hate to bring it up because it comes off as an excuse, but let's not forget that the Bulls should have gone into game 5 in Cleveland up 3-1 instead of tied 2-2. Three referees looked right at Blatt's dumb *** calling a timeout he didn't have and did nothing about it allowing Bron to turn around and hit that game winner on the following possession after they proceeded to get another break in drawing up a play in a "timeout" they shouldn't have had (granted Thibs shouldn't have called for a replay there, but his stupidity in that moment aside, shouldn't have benefitted them like that).

Didnt want to quote ur long post king, but ive seen roses shot chart for pre 2012 and his mid range jumper was one of the best in the league till the lockout year. There was some correlation between him taking more 3s and his mid range j efficiency dropping off.

To be fair and i guess play some devils advocate here, do the bulls really need anyone in fa. The only reason they didnt reach there potential last year was because of much poorer than usual defense. If there defense was slightly better they would probably be in the finals. And tho i see the point your making david west probably isnt gonna fit in hoibergs system, cuz he likes going small.

They had problems playing defense and it was apparent they needed another scorer badly. Too many lapses of not being able to get points was a major issue

I admittedly don't understand the new cap and salary rules very well, but how the hell can they even afford anyone else without trading Haywood.
