Wesley Matthews (Achilles) officially signed a four-year, $70 million contract with the Mavs on Thursday.

I guess the extra $13 million was for keeping to his word? lol

I don't have anything to back this up, but I wouldn't be surprised if nearly half of Westbrook's assists came to Kanter, I do know over half his points were created from assists and scoring jumped up to 19ppg in just 31mpg once he landed in OKC. All while Westbrook was racking up triple doubles.

Westbrook attacks, that's his game, it's much easier to hit a guy cutting to the basketball, or floating around that mid range area than it is to throw a cross court skip pass over 3 defenders to a guy spotting up for 3.. Same season why Birdman and Haslem looked like some of the most efficient post players when on the floor with LeBron. It's an easy pass, and it's effective, and it's a bail out that lets Westbrook play a little more out of control than what you would normally want. Which really suits his game.

I would trade Waiters if someone had to be moved, but considering they have Kanter's bird rights does a trade even have to be made? They definitely need to keep DJ and Singler, but Kanter looked much better to me than I even knew he was capable of.

Nearly 22 and 13 per 36 minutes, that's a better output than many guys making the big bucks. Defensively he was meh, but that will pick up when he has Ibaka there, who didn't get to play but maybe 10ish games with Kanter.. Also having back their 7 foot tall small forward will help as well. Kanter is decent enough to not be a liability, and that's all they really need if healthy.

Westbrook, a shooter, Durant, Ibaka, Kanter, might be the best offensive starting 5 in the league.

i mean i agree with all of this. and if the thunder had to trade anyone then waiters should be it. if they can trade someone whos not playing alot of minutes for them anyway then by all means keep kanter. I just thought that matching a 70mll offer was alot especially if the only way to keep him was to trade some key bench guy(s), but if trading a scrub or two will work, then by all means keep him. i like you was fairly impressed with his ability on the court, and going from 2nd option to 3rd or 4th migh improve his efficiency even more. Imo i would probably bring him off the bench unless his production is completely bad in a 6th man role.

Terrible trade for Indy IMO. 2nd round pick for a 28 year old 2 time All star, All defense player with minimal injury history(with an expiring contract as well). I know his value is pretty low based on the last year and a half or so, but I didn't think it was THAT low. Hard to believe that's all Bird could've gotten for him.

I don't know, just concerned about the situation in Indy. Let Hibbert go for nothing. Didn't even reach out to Scola who signed with TOR for only 3 mil. I hope Bird has something up his sleeve because right now it's not looking good. We are THIN at 4 and 5.

I have to say as a laker fan, we may have not gotten big name free agents. But we do have a nice team that should be competitive. we still are gonna miss playoffs, but our defense should be a bit better, and scoring shouldnt be a huge issue.

It'd be kind of a mircale if we win 40 games. I'am expecting like 35 wins. Wich would still be a nice improvement.

From a core player of a ECF Contending Team to being dumped for only a 2nd round pick.

                      Doc's POV on DJ: http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/nba/s...ndled-decision

"I've been in this long enough as a coach and a GM -- typically when free agents leave, their agent calls," Rivers said. "In our case, D.J. was with us for seven years and when he first decided to leave, his agent called me. I think some people choose to make the call themselves. Some people don't. Honestly, that's why you hire representatives, to do that work for you. I can tell you this summer I've been turned down more than a freshman kid at a college bar. I have yet to get a call from the actual player to turn me down. It's always their agent. It's part of our league and that's the way it's done. That's not a problem."
So maybe we're overreacting on DJ here since it's usually the agent that calls? And it sounded like there was a conflict of interest because wasn't his agent buddy-buddy with Cuban? This is such a huge mess lol

Amar'e Stoudemire's scheduled to meet w/MIA tomorrow. The belief currently is that Amar'e/MIA are "close" to completing a deal, per sources.
