Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
Presti tells Oklahoman that intention remains to match offers for Kanter--presumably including sheet from Blazers: https://t.co/8zbYnSEDWu
If they do they'll have to trade a couple guys
The have until Sunday
Edit of course he may not hurt them as bad defensively under billy d since hes going to have an actual defensive philosophy, and not do what brooks has been doing which is basically rely on ibaka.Last edited by OkayC; 07-09-2015, 05:12 PM.Lakers

Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
Good read Houston
How quickly we forget
As I’ve been told, Howard’s agent Dan Fegan did not want Dwight in Houston, preferring instead to steer him to another team. Reportedly, that team was Dallas as the agent has a relationship and comfort level with Mavericks owner Mark Cuban. Dwight preferred Houston. To seal the deal for the premier free agent, Fegan provided the Rockets a list of needs/demands to bring him here and one of them was to let Chandler Parsons, who also was represented by Fegan, out of his contract this summer rather than wait until 2015.
(It should be noted that though I have no idea what other items would be on that list, there were two “interesting” things that happened around that time — the Rockets hired Howard’s former trainer with the Orlando Magic and they later added Dwight’s brother to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, though it was largely believed that he wasn’t a good enough prospect to make that jump. See JR Smith-Chris Smith for how nepotism package deals can work.)Comment

2015 Offseason Thread
idk if id do it if i were okc. enes kanter has been pretty good for them, but it has been clear that in the past lack of shooting has hurt them. having guys like augustin singler and morrow, has opened up the floor for them, and waiters tho inneficient can get hot and has hit timely shots for them. Idk if its worth matching a 70m offer for kanter. thats alot of money and they'd suffer on the floor spacing end cuz they'd have to trade some of those shooters to keep him. and with durant and ibaka coming back idk how big of an advantage they really have anyway. Considering durant westbrook and waiters will get there touches, plus ibaka is going to get his, meaning that by default kanter will get less touches simply because you can only score so much in a game. defensively there worse with him on the court and if hes not giving the same scoring punch because of simply having too many weapons, then he aint worth the money.
Edit of course he may not hurt them as bad defensively under billy d since hes going to have an actual defensive philosophy, and not do what brooks has been doing which is basically rely on ibaka.
IMO I would keep Kanter. What little I saw last year he was very beneficial as a scorer with Westbrook creating opportunities for him. Westbrook hadn't played with a type of big who was so effective as a scorer, it will be a nice addition for Durant as well IMO.
I don't have anything to back this up, but I wouldn't be surprised if nearly half of Westbrook's assists came to Kanter, I do know over half his points were created from assists and scoring jumped up to 19ppg in just 31mpg once he landed in OKC. All while Westbrook was racking up triple doubles.
Westbrook attacks, that's his game, it's much easier to hit a guy cutting to the basketball, or floating around that mid range area than it is to throw a cross court skip pass over 3 defenders to a guy spotting up for 3.. Same season why Birdman and Haslem looked like some of the most efficient post players when on the floor with LeBron. It's an easy pass, and it's effective, and it's a bail out that lets Westbrook play a little more out of control than what you would normally want. Which really suits his game.
I would trade Waiters if someone had to be moved, but considering they have Kanter's bird rights does a trade even have to be made? They definitely need to keep DJ and Singler, but Kanter looked much better to me than I even knew he was capable of.
Nearly 22 and 13 per 36 minutes, that's a better output than many guys making the big bucks. Defensively he was meh, but that will pick up when he has Ibaka there, who didn't get to play but maybe 10ish games with Kanter.. Also having back their 7 foot tall small forward will help as well. Kanter is decent enough to not be a liability, and that's all they really need if healthy.
Westbrook, a shooter, Durant, Ibaka, Kanter, might be the best offensive starting 5 in the league.

Kanter also shot 60% from the field on passes that came from Westbrook. They had a good thing going.
