    re: 2016 NBA Offseason Thread

How funny would it have been if Curry still had an extra year on his discount contract and they sign Westbrook next year due to another cap spike. This time they have Iggy's contract off the books.

    PG: Westbrook
    SG: Curry
    SF: Thompson
    PF: Durant
    C: Green

    There's your GSW/Western Conference All-Star

Edit: Now that I look at it, it's very possible if Curry signs a discount (around $20 million). And the cap is expected to jump to around $109 million.

Warriors were targeting Durant for years. They didn't do it because they lost the Finals this year.

The front office has gone after big targets, even when they were a marginal playoff team.

They went after Dwight Howard before Houston got him and they even tried to get Lebron to consider them but he wouldn't.

I think it was also this ownership which signed DeAndre Jordan to an offer sheet when he was RFA.

Funny, I seem to recall that word getting thrown about quite a bit during Kickgate part 1 while the Warriors were down 1-3. But I know, I know that one guy is the only one in the history of sports that goes through these things.

Seems like none of these dudes want to be the alpha male. You'd think Durant would be angry and focused on beating Golden State instead of joining them lol

That's my only problem with this whole situation.

I have no problem with Durant leaving and going elsewhere to try and win, he's paid his dues to OKC and has no obligation to stay.

My only issue is him choosing GS right after they beat him. He was in a situation already good enough to win it all, I would feel like he should be wanting his revenge. Not join someone who basically just embarrassed him.

That and they just won 73 games. This would be like Jordan leaving the Bulls for Detroit, or a guy like Robinson/Malone caliber joining the Bulls after they already won 72 games. Actually it would be like if both of those crazy scenarios could happen at the same time lol.

My question is, what does this do for Durant's legacy. Even the Magic/Celtics didn't have 4 top 15 players in the lineup. Will he ever be looked at in the same light as Magic, Bird, etc.. Or will he be a Worthy, McHale, Pippen. Maybe he doesn't even care about that stuff, maybe he just wants to win.. But I can't see anyone looking at him in the same light as those guys unless he joins this team and is clear cut their best player.. But even then it's going to come off looking like "he's getting easier looks", since he doesn't offer much else at an elite level aside from his scoring. After all he's joining a team that just won a ring and 73 games, even if they win it all next year it'll be nearly impossible to gauge how much better he actually made them. I just feel as if even though he could win himself some rings that in the long run he might have actually hurt his legacy to an extent..

But if he doesn't care about that then more power to him. I just would have liked to see the rematch between those two squads in this years playoffs.

I wonder how long Myers rehearsed that in the mirror.

Ballmer probably still sitting there in his office like what I do wrong?

The only reason the Warriors won vs OKC was because they took Curry off of Westbrook. But again in the next series. Curry was attacked from all angles on defense. Green missed that game 5. And then the worst happened when they lost Bogut to injury. That's when TT went off.

But I get it Barnes mentally lost his edge. Couldn't hit the shots he'd been hitting all season long.

So they ship Bogut (Trade) and Barnes (RFA) to the Mavs for Zaza.

Durant brings a totally different monster into a already deadly group of players. I don't know if there has been a situation like this in NBA history.

I was aboard the "why mess with a good thing" train under the assumption GS would cruise to b2b trophies, but now that they came up short, regardless of the circumstances, I'm good with it, at this point they're not breaking up a championship team per se.

I do have a feeling they'll start slow and everyone will lose their minds though, which we've seen before, but it'll all be entertaining to watch as usual

Not sure how credible the sources are but am reading from multiple tweets that Wade has a scheduled a flight to Cleveland.

If anything, I thought a meeting already happened on the banana boat?

wasn't the first offer posted by Le Batard? He loves stirring the pot, wouldn't surprise me if he was doing the same, although with Woj responding it almost kinda makes me wonder... nah

I really don't see why he doesn't. Offering 10 mil more then Miami, a Championship contender, and reunited with bae. I bet this goes down.
