re: 2016 NBA Offseason Thread
Haven't the Celtics been pretty desperate to package some of those picks together for a star?
I agree he's not going to Boston though, and I don't think he wants to go anywhere.Originally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment

re: 2016 NBA Offseason Thread
I think there would have been pretty significant change in the NBA based on Phil's decision.
To start if he pulls out of the situation and let's Melo go to Chicago in a sign and trade like he wanted. The Knicks likely get back either a Jimmy Butler, Niko Mirotic combination possibly a Snell or Dunleavy as well or a Taj Gibson, Niko, McDermott combo along with some picks in both scenarios.
If Melo goes to Chicago and they have success Bulls management likely doesn't fire Thibs meaning no Thibs for Minnesota this coming year.
If you're Phil and you've traded Melo you've made a firm decision on the direction of the team for the future. With the pieces gained in the trade, do you still get rid of Shumpert and JR when you ultimately did? Do you move them in that same offseason? What does it do to the east with no Shump and Smith on the Cavs?
Do the Bulls still make a move to get Pau Gasol upon landing Melo? If not does he go to the Spurs that offseason like rumored? How does that affect LaMarcus Aldridge the following year when deciding to leave Portland.
I think there's a lot of interesting scenarios that could have played out with Phil making a different decision
Moves like that create ripple effects for other teams because they're then trying to see what they can do to keep up.#RespectTheCultureComment

LeBron need to leave again so the world can implode again when a free agent does what free agents do.

Disagree with that thought sir. All free agents do what LeBron did. I personally loved Tracey McGrady's one hour special to announce he was going to Orlando and the championship rally when he got there was top notch.Comment

And you'll be right crying about "how it's not fair that nobody else gets criticized like Lebron" so hush, lol#RespectTheCultureComment

Unless Melo has an option to join a Superfriends situation I don't see him ever waiving his NTC. He won't do it to go to Boston, Chicago, etc. In an era where everyone loves talking about the lack of income tax and low cost of living in FL and TX, Melo is one of the rare dudes who truly loves NYC. Nets working out a few guys at Veteran FA Mini Camp. Not too many names have leaked out(a good thing)but among them...
Ian Begley @IanBegley
Former No. 1 pick Anthony Bennett is expected to be among the group of veteran FAs working out at the Nets' minicamp this week, per sources.

Not sure if this was brought up before, but Stephen A Smith made a bold claim that LeBron will consider returning to Miami if he brings a title to Cleveland.
Obviously you have to take this rumor with a huge grain of salt, especially since the source is Stephen A. Smith, but it would be interesting and crazy if it came to fruition.
Heck there wouldn't be enough cap space to have Dragic, Wade, Bosh, James, and Whiteside.Comment

Imagine if Durant AND Lebron both hit FA this summer.
NBA Free Agency would be at a complete standstill until those 2 decide where they want to go. Would be the craziest Offseason by far.#RespectTheCultureComment
